Okay, I know this probably sounds like a tired old question, but I'm getting nowhere looking online. Just finding $200 keg scales and gimmicky keg strips. What are you guys doing to tell how much beer is left in the keg? Thanks!
The easy way is to lift the keg up. The hard way is to weigh the keg and subtract the tare weight. The scientific way is to untap the keg and let it sit outside the keg box for fifteen minutes. There will be a condensation line from the bottom to the liquid level...after which the keg walls will be dry.
Drink the rest of it and note how much you drank. That's how much was in there! Seriously, though, I developed a sense for how much is left simply by lifting the keg. Not particularly accurate, but close enough for my purpose (is it time to brew another batch of this?). Obviously, YMMV.
Get two small cups, fill one with the number of pours for the size of keg you have and size of glass you use. After each fill move a penny from cup 1 to cup 2. If you are good about it you'll get a good approximation of how much is left.
