I'm at 320 beers, most bought last year. I've tried to stop but it's tough. It was at 356 a month ago so I'm on the right track, but breaking below 300 is proving tough.

currently at 250+ and it's getting bigger (thats what she said). And I have 60+ in the beer fridge...and 10+ gallons fermenting. oye. it's out of control, in a good way.

I try to keep it around 100 bottles... I'm failing, and sitting around 125. Any more and it is just too much

I was planning to post my own personal confession about having too much beer in my cellar, but after reading some of these other posts, I realize I'm not all that bad!

To celebrate, I went out and picked up a 4-pack of Ten Fidy. Cheers!

At first, I thought my wife may have started this thread. When the day started, I had 192 bottles either in a cellar or in a fridge. Then I drove to Louisville and added 63 beers to my inventory. I try to have a good mix of stuff that can sit for months or years and stuff I've got to get rid of on a short-term basis.

    I think you're doing fine.

I have approximately 78 beers in my "cellar" (20 bombers and 58 12oz.). Nearly all of the beers in there are perfectly cellarable -- Backwoods Bastard 2011/2012; BCBS 2011/2012; BCBCS 2012; Bell's Black Note; Bolt Cutter; Founders Imperial Stout 2012; Hair of the Dog Adam (74) and Fred (78), etc., etc., etc. Admittedly I do have a Devil Dancer from last summer in there, but I really just want to see what it's like with a year on it.

Not much here either. 8 botles of 2012 Abacus, 1 Firestone 14, 15, and 16, 1 2010 Parabola, 2-4 packs of Founders Breakfast stout, 4-4 packs of Surly Abrasive, 1 Epic Evan Williams, and 8 La Cumbre IPA. The rest I drink as I get.

I've got about 125 bottles or so, which is pretty modest by most standards. Unfortunately I have discovered that for the overwhelming majority of beer, I simply prefer it fresh. Obviously there are exceptions (BT, BCBS to name a few), but for the most part I find myself giving away stuff or extraing it away as I only drink about 4-5 beers a week and like fresh IPA's just as much as what's languishing in my cellar. Live and learn...

I don't think 125 bottles is modest by very many standards at all. can't back it up with numbers but i'd venture that those massive beers cellars posted on BA are the exceptions and definitely not commonplace, even among beer geeks.

agreed that the vast majority of beer is best fresh. personally, my collection (a few dozen at most) on the whole is generally consumed/replenished within 6 months.

Save it for Lambics, Barleywines and a select group of Imperial Stouts which will actually improve with age.

too much is when it's mentioned as grounds for divorce. I think I'm only half way there (currently roughly 80 bottles in my stash in total?). So I'm still good :grinning:
