There are many stores in Michigan that offer make your own sixer's for $10.59 but they all have to be Michigan made beers. Doesn't include higher end beers like black note and hopslam but it's still a sweet deal when you just wanna try a single of something new. Just made my own 6 pack that consisted of 6 pan galactic gargle blasters. If anyone at Short's is reading this...MAKE THIS BEER ALL YEAR!!!!

The real question is how much are you willing to pay for a twelve ounce bottle? Some that go for $1 and others $10-25.

Here bottles start at $2-$3.50 for 12oz and can climb to $7-$9 for 12 oz. and a 6pack usually cost $11 (for local stuff)..while a 6pack of Lagunitas Pale can run you $25.
    I picked other...

I remember beer being very expensive in Canada when I went there some years back.

Random question. Is there any kind of a craft scene in Canada?

Plenty, growing faster by the month, seems to start in the middle and spread to the coasts. Distribution sucks and its a luxury good but fingers crossed it just gets better.

I'd drop $15, give or take a buck. That's worth having a nice, varied sixer. On a side note, a lot of stores give 10% discount on mixes, so that helps with the markup a lot of people here are mentioning.

It depends on how long I have to wait in line. If I can walk right in only 5.99. If there is a 2 hr wait then 29.99.

Wow, no way to answer this without being more specific. Are we talking a 6 mixed of Cantillion or Russian river or a mixed six of Serria Nevada or Founders. Are we talking seasonal , special release or year round offerings ?

I only have one store close to me that offers a good selection for mix-sixes. They don't have a specific section for this service, you can break any package in the store to select what you want. Typically I select one splurge (usually a Belgian something - last was a Saison Dupont), one higher priced item (last was Backwoods Bastard), and close it out with "normal" singles in the $2-$3/bottle range. Usually this comes out somewhere around $20. I don't do it very frequently, but I have no problem paying $20-$22 for six quality beers that I've never tried before. Especially considering a good 6 pack from my typical store is going to run me $13 and change anyways.

2 stores in my area have make your own 6 pack for $8.97 and $9.98 respectively. It is nothing extraordinary(SN, Sam Adams, Schlafly, Boulevard, etc.), and is a nice way to sample a lot of different stuff for cheap.

I work in a bottle shop that allows customers to pull 12 oz singles from anywhere in the store for a mix-a-six (except singles priced individually such as Wulver) and charges $12.99 for any 6 "standard" beers and $14.99 if specialties or one-offs are added. The mark-up encourages customers to purchase whole six-packs, but the mix-a-six is easily the most popular format we sell. Occasionally we get will someone to the counter with two bombers shoved in the six-pack that acts surprised when it comes out to be a little more expensive. :astonished:

There's a grocery store near me that has a flat $9.99 rate for a mix your own six. Of course, the offerings they put out there include things like singles of the Seagram's Escapes malt beverage, among tons of other bottles from six packs normally priced at $6 or below. If you're lucky, you can find some Great Lakes or New Belgium to throw in. Not necessarily the best option, unless you're brand new and looking to try a few things out before dropping $8.99 on a six pack of it.

There's another grocery store near me that has an impressive selection of single bottles from plenty of states and countries, and charges single-bottle price on every bottle in the mix your own six. I do that some weekends when the home supply is low and I know I'm not feeling 3 or even 2 of the same beer in a row, but I can easily see the price getting above $20 if one were to grab six of the pricier beers.

One place I go you can pick any six beers off the shelf and they'll charge you the 1/6 of the six pack (or 1/4 of the 4 pack) price for that bottle. That's how it should be done.

14.99-16.99 is good price to me! Of some mixed beers that are better than average!
Some places don't even let you break 6 packs. I don't like those places. Feel like the store should definitely let you mix 6 beers

I also have a store that lets you mix a six for $10. I'd be willing to pay a hair more than that if there was a good selection. But if there's that good a selection, I'd just buy a six of that for less!

I'm currently working in Louisiana, and I love how many stores here allow for single bottle sales of anything in the store so it basically just becomes a giant pick-your-own-six. Just hoping we get some more stuff distributed here.... (looking at you Dogfish Head)

I've put together many that came out very high in price, others not as much.

The point being, if the beer is worth it, than it's worth it to me regardless of what it costs.

I love mix a 6, and will pay a slight premium over the highest price of my choices to try a few new beers. I usually mix mine 2/2/2 so I can give each beer a fair trial. I'm happy with this because if I find something I'm not really find of I'm not sitting on 4 or 5 more of them. No big commitment.

I voted other because there's not alot of qualifiers here - I presume 12 oz. bottles but mixed six pack can be anything.
If I was to mix a sixpack, what I would pay for it depends on what's in it and whether I picked the bottles or it was already mixed and no substitutions were permitted.
