How often are you trying something new?

I don't know how to post an image, but sometimes I get a Samuel Smith Chocolate Stout and a Samuel Smith Organic Cherry Ale and mix 50/50. MMMMM Good! Just like Cherry Chocolate Cake!

 

between 4/20/2013 and yesterday i have had 2086 distinct beers. Big numbers of these are at bottle shares, tastings, flights, festivals, etc.

As far as bottled/canned beer at the house or draft while out, i usually have 3-5 new ones a week.

 

As often as I get the chance.

 

To answer the OP- WAY TOO OFTEN. I've logged over 726 distinct beers since a year ago today.

 

Probably average two beers a day, maybe 75% new? I'm not good at math. I would guess I'm around 700 ticks the last 2 years. Obviously I finish the 4/6-pack, but I don't repeat bombers often and almost always order something new when out.

I'm starting to trend a little more towards repeats though. I've tried the usuals at most of my preferred drinking establishments and I'm not necessarily interested in many others. I'm also throwing more old favorites in the cart than I used to.

 

I almost always have at least 1-2 new beers each weekend. Depending on the time of year I can someone's bring home 4-5 new beers if I go crazy with ticking

 

@Svingjo has distilled the ticker/collector mentality to it's essence. I am not picking on you specifically and you are not alone in this line of thinking, it's just no one else stated it so succinctly. I could give a counter-argument that always taking your chances with a new beer limits you from enjoying the great beers you know; and what's the point of searching for great beers if you never to try them again? Clearly, for some people the searching/ticking/collecting aspect is the enjoyment. Although I may not agree, the hobby is big enough for us all... different strokes for different folks.

 

I would say something new every week. I go straight to the singles to see what is new or I have not tried. I really enjoy trying something new all the time. I have a few that I pick up for a special occasion, but am always looking for something new.

 

Almost every time I buy beer. For sure I try something new 3-4 times a month.

 

In the 31 months I've been on BA I've logged 1072 which averages out to 34 beers a month. I thinks it's safe to say I'm a bit of a ticker.. others might say I have a problem

 

Probably 6 out of 10 beers I drink are new.

 

More new beers have been coming to Casper...crazy I tell ya. I don't forget my favourites, though.

 

OK - just picked up a mixed six of new ones! Lots of pumpkin beers and oktoberfests to try! At least a few should make NBS!

Variety is the spice of life. When beer is in your life, it's pretty great too.

I drink on average one beer a night and 70-80% of the time it's a beer that I haven't had before.

 

It depends. I try to try new ones a lot. Lately I have been really good about trying new beers. But in 2 weeks, I have been to 2 Total Wine stores.

 

About 3-5 per week

 

When I lived in northern Virginia and could get singles of anything at Total Wine it was probably 5 +/- a week. Since moving to Arkansas with worse distribution and poor singles sections, I drink far fewer new beers. I still try to get at least one per week for NBS.
