I always check the date. Feel better reading this because I never see anyone else doing that in the liquor stores I go to.

Never, tbh. I even bought an English mild that was way out of date years ago and it still tasted delicious.

I have no choice but to check ipa's every time now, for example on Sunday I saw a IPA bomber with Dec/14 bottled date right beside one with a June/15.

Could you apply for a job with the Total Wine here in Charleston?

I feel bad that I have to check the bottling dates but I have been burned so many times buying beer that is almost a year old from the local Total Wine. I don't understand how stores get away with selling old beer well past its fresh date yet if you went to a grocery store you would not find old food on the shelf on a regular basis. I would rather have more limited choices but with a guranteed freshness date than have unlimited choices of old stale beer.

How much money? haha. I'm all about new beer markets.

You're out there doing the kinds of things I tell myself that I should do! Thanks! I think if more people made a point of telling everyone from store owners to brewers pretty soon we'd be surprised there was ever a time where only certain bottles had dates.

Always with IPAs, though I am usually not hyper sensitive to anything less than say 6 months ld. I will also check out stouts to see if a store did a little value added aging for me. Some stouts I will always pick up if I see one lying around (Peche Mortel, Expedition) but some may entice me with same age already on it.

Aw shucks. No thanks needed as it really is a basic matter of self protection and a socially acceptable expression of frustration. PA has a case law which means that much of our beer here is sold by the case. That means that if I buy a beer that isn't fresh it can be not one mistake but 24 mistakes. So I just figured I should dramatize for the brewery the implications for me and them of them not dating their beer.

I am admittedly super anal about this. Often when I have a hoppy craving, almost any good IPA will do, so I'm not concerned at all with brand, but solely with freshness.

No customer should have to send an e mail to a brewer, buy outdated beer, or even check their dates for that matter. Customers (usually) aren't in the store EVERY day like the employees are. So why should you have to watch our work?? Same with reps. None of that makes any sense to me. Reps shouldn't eat shit for lazy employees and managers not checking dates and trying to push through items.

I don't actually work for them or know if they even have a position available - just wishful thinking from a concerned consumer.....I swore off buying IPAs from there for a period of time after the things I'd seen.

Neshaminy Creek is really the only brewery that I would LOVE to buy more of their beer on a regular basis if only they would date their cans. Hopefully they will start.

Always on IPAs. Almost never on Stouts. Varies in between those styles
