I voted 1 in 100 plus only because "as often as necessary" wasn't an option. I drain pour very seldom for taste, but I will. I refuse to choke down crap just because I paid for it, no matter the price. It's beer! I mainly drain pour because all of a sudden I'm full. This seems to be happening more as I get older. I hate it too!

I drained a Creme Brulee from Southern Tier. Only drain pour in over 500+ in the past year.

Haven't drain poured in over a year thankfully. The last time I did, it was because I let a 12 pack of bud light go months pas the expiration date because I realized I like good beer!

Drained poured 2 beers. Both after about half a bottle. Just couldn't make it through. This was about a year or so ago.

I've done it, but not often. Maybe I've had good luck, but I rarely find a beer so bad I can't stand to drink it down. My last drain pour wasn't even the beer's fault - I dozed off and woke up and a beer that was perfectly fine around 45-50 degrees was awful at around 70!

Fresh Maple Bacon was awful, but I have heard that it became decent if you were willing to sit on it for a couple years.

And, I was just about to point out how great it was that nobody had used the really poorly chosen term "DP"

This is the first time I've ever seen this topic come up where the thread wasn't full of consistent DPers justifying their pansiness with talk of "empty calories" and disposable income. In my opinion, drain pouring should be a last resort, not a go-to approach to any beer I'm not in love with.

Although the complete privatization of alcohol hasn't gone entirely without a hitch in Washington state, I'm so glad beers were never part of the state liquor monopoly back when we had state-run liquor stores. They would have a tiny beer section, but it wasn't worth more than a brief glance, as any supermarket would have a better selection, and probably much better bottle turnover.

That's a pretty cool brewer to do that. Not everybody will do that (looking at you, HOTD).

I never realized it was manly to force yourself to drink something you didn't like. I have other standards for masculinity I guess. I'm also not sure why you feel the need to impose your value system onto other people. Why do you care what I do with MY beer?

I can only remember doing this this once. It was Minhas Name Tag Lager. I picked up a six pack. Somehow I struggled over time to get four down me. I hate to waste food or drink of any type. The last two were just sitting in the fridge staring at me every time I opened it. I swear I could hear them laughing at me. Finally is told myself it was really inexpensive and I can recycle the can. I scuttled them and to this day have not regretted it.

If I thought 1 out of every 25 beers I bought would be undrinkable, I'd probably not buy much beer, or totally change up where I bought it.

Assuming the "beer that just sucks" is occurring least often (I'm presuming you aren't the type that just flat out doesn't like much of anything but keeps buying beers in styles you probably know you won't like; sounds weird, but they're out there, folks!) and the "beer that got old and stale" once you bought it (because that's just operator error - easy to fix and probably an extremely rare event in any case), if 1/25 is accurate, that's indicative of either frequenting a really bad brewery or a really bad store that's keeping things way too long or storing them horribly. For the sake of your pocketbook and your sanity, you might want to explore other places to buy beer from where you've been doing it.

Some stuff is just plain spoiled or bacteria-eaten. Most bottles aren't dated and people don't always review beer they think is seriously off.

Only once in many years. Recently, I opened up a bomber that my wife and I were going to split to finish up the night. I poured a little bit for her to taste, and she immediately gave me the 'no way' eye. I poured myself glass, and try as I might, I couldn't finish that beer. Neither of us wanted to finish off a good night.. like that.

My initial answer was one beer ever, but that's not entirely accurate. I've only drain-poured one due to taste but I dumped another 20 or so macros that after 6 months of drinking nothing but craft, I decided I would not ever drink.
