How often do you get a bad batch?

Just got a 12 pack of White Hatter from New Holland. Seems to have excessive sediment in it. Is that normal for this beer?

DFH 60 Minute has a sub-par batch every other batch it seems. I sooooo wish they could be consistent with this beer.

Most of my "bad batches" seem to either be the retailers fault for not selling them fast enough or my fault for holding onto them too long, which doesn't happen much. In other words, they aren't a batch-wide problem but rather a problem with an individual bottle or six pack. Most of the time I have a beer for the first time and it is genuinely bad, I opt not to repeat the experience. As such, I don't really know if those are bad batches, bad bottles, or a perpetually failing beer.

That being said, I still can't quite figure out what a good batch of Founders Old Curmudgeon is supposed to taste like. I've had fresh batches taste like especially hoppy and (unpleasantly) oaked bottles of Great Divide Hibernation, I've had fresh batches taste like boozy-hoppy molasses, and I've had one fresh batch that was the most cherry cough syrup beer to ever cherry cough syrup.

I like that this merits its own clause. Still haven't heard any reason to buy something from them.

You old timer you. If he had just been smart enough to troll everyone with a story about Triple Bock, we all would have believed him....

I had some bad undercovers too. As well as some off Sucks... really unfortunate. I was also super bummed when one of my Scream IIPAs was tasting much less desireable than my others. Seems like, at least for me, IPAs have the biggest chance of being bad. Worth the risk though

Aside from home brew, i can only think of 1 bottle i had that was "bad" just a super oxidized NØGNE Ø #100, the other bottles from the same shipment were wonderful, probably just a poorly sealed cap.

First time I had it I'm pretty sure it was on tap, and I really enjoyed it. Bought a few bottles of it over time and was seriously underwhelmed. I just notched it up to perhaps not being overly fresh and never got around to getting it since. I seem to remember "dog biscuit" as a taste but perhaps this incredibly descriptive taste profile you speak of is closer to what I was tasting. It's been a good while since I've even tried one, as my Pavlov-ian response to it has protected me for the better part of a few years.

Thankfully nothing too bad. I have had a number of Heavy Seas Loose Cannon IPA's with an excessive amount of sediment, but it hasn't seemed to affect the taste.
