I would say it depends. A beer I'm familiar with and is drinkable I tend to drink faster, 20-30 min. Bigger beers and ones I'm less familiar with I have taken as long as 1:30 to finish.

An All Day IPA might last me 5 minutes around a campfire or 30 min on the golf course. For me it depends on the situation but I could slam a can in less than a minute if I need to.

I'm not a quantitative drinker, so I don't guzzle. In my early years I drank just to drink (guzzle) a lot. Now I drink "less but better" and savor each and every beer. Take your time.......................................

Faster than average, or so it seems. I think that's why I lean in the direction of German and English table beers, because they're meant to be drunk instead of sipped.

Anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the beer and the setting. Time is not important if you are not drinking for quantity. If you are drinking with a group, watch their speed. It can be fun, the faster they drink, the stupider they act!

I usually drink the first 2 fairly quickly then slow down to 1 every 45 min-1 hr.

Take my time... usually at least an hour per (a little quicker if I am quaffing some homebrew with my buddies).

Depends on the style, abv, if I'm enjoying with a meal or solo, etc

A lager or IPA I can drink in a few minutes. A tripel or imperial stout I can nurse for a half hour or more.

My answer is like so many others. It depends on the style. A pale lager goes down in under 5 minutes. An Imperial Stout, Abbey Dubbel, Barleywine, Scotch Wee Heavy, and other "heavier" brews can take me a half hour per glass.

I hear that if you use a straw it really slows down your drinking.

The amount of time it takes me to drink 12oz, 16oz, 20oz, whatever, of anything is all over the map.

Several people have noted that time may be affected by style. That is certainly true. But to be honest, there are times I find myself drinking quickly and times I find myself drinking slowly. It is not always because of style. It may just be a matter of mood, or whether I'm hungry or thirsty, or hot or cold. It honestly can be anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. There is no set time.

For me a session or "lite" such as Sixpoint Sensi or Founders All Day IPA can go within minutes...especially if it's the first one or on a hot day.

However a breakfast stout or something similar could take anywhere from 30min +.

Usually the heavier or thicker ones seem to take me longer.

I used to think about this a bit more when the last review score on this site was 'Drinkability' and not the overall score. Some beers seem to simply disappear quicker down my throat than others without much effort. I can think of a few pretty average beers that absolutely kill it in this regard. They're nothing mind blowing compared to your Headys and Plinys of the world, but they can catch you off guard when all of the sudden the glass is empty.

Talking 12oz service size, 15-20 min. if its my first beer unless its something 8% or higher then it can be anywhere from 40-60 min. Usually I slow down considerably after my first. I don't go over 3 beers in a session, I'm a lightweight.

While I'm inclined to agree with you, there are many days that I get home from a long day at the office or after a long bike ride on a warm/hot day and I'll be damned if I don't annihilate a beer if it's something lighter like a SNPA or Lagunitas Daytime. Hell, I made a Torpedo disappear like Houdini last week after a long day and an hour on the bus home in 85 degree heat.
And I enjoy every second of it.

Depends. Sometimes, I forget to drink, so a glass lasts a couple hours. Other times, I look up and I've had 4 in 30 minutes.

It's no surprise. I just did a search for "guzzle" and came up with one thread: this one.
As others have said, don't guzzle your beer. Just drink it. Seriously, you'll enjoy it more.

Totally comes up every so often, but that's the way it is!

I tend to drink pales quicker than stouts, the former lasting from 15-45 minutes for a ~12 oz. pour, the latter 30-60 minutes. I'm in no rush. I enjoy the warming of the beer (usually an ale). That said, a really good beer is tough to put down, so you can halve those times in some instances.
