I know the listing says, "Ultra Rare," but I was wondering if anyone else had this glass in their collection? It's started at about $8 and has obviously risen since. It's a little more than I would like to spend on a glass, even if it is considered a glasswhale. It's cool, but I personally like the stemless guy. I apologize in advance if any BA's have been bidding on this trying to keep it on the down low.

The graphic on that glass looks pretty shitty.

Holy mess...$92 is the current bid?

Wait, I'm not surprised. Nope, don't have this glass (and not bidding).

IIRC... the brewers actually made these themselves in-house at The Alchemist for the first release of Heady Topper. They are extremely rare as the listing says. I've seen one before.

That stemless wine-glass they do is so nice, and this glass looks like a boring shape, poor graphic, etc... If I got this in a box as an extra (not knowing it was "glasswhalebro" ) I'd probably say "That's nice, just wish it would have been the stemless wine-glass" and it would probably go unused.

Perhaps someone is just bidding up the auction intentionally, or it's really that rare and someone who over-values glassware really wants it.

Either way, looks like a pretty boring glass to me.

Not to you or to me, but there are at least 2 people that think is is. For every person that pays too much for something at auction, there is at least 1 person who was willing to pay one bid less.
Wish I had a case of these tucked away.

IIRC, that was the glass that accompanied that 600-bottle HT release in December 2010.

I've been watching this glass rather closely, the bidding really started to get out of control yesterday afternoon. It always surprises me why people don't wait to place their bid closer to the end of the auction, not giving others time to drive up the price.

They're a bunch of amatures. Back in my Ebay obsessed days in the early 2000's I would set my alarm to wake up at all hours of the night to get a last minute snipe bid in and win auctions.

Went for $100 on the dot. Hope the winning bidder has some fresh Heady to go in that glass, or should he/she just drink it from the can?

Coming from a guy who said no one would pay $100 for an $8 glass (dld/intelligentsia mug). Not to mention your avatar...

Yeah, that's a legit glass and extremely rare.

Obviously not for everybody, but for a glass collector that's a pretty desirable piece. Not surprised it went for so much.

Does anyone else find it funny that there is a $100 glass for a beer that specifically states that you should drink it from the can? Or were those instructions not included in the first bottle release?

Definitely wasn't apart of the label on the bottle. You'd look like a complete asshole drinking straight from a 22 oz. bottle.

Someone paid $100 for a fucking Willi Becker glass?! o_O

It's a thing with a hole in it to hold liquid. I guess the old adage is true about a fool and his money.

I just returned from the brewery and noticed they have this guy on frisbees. I told the girl working there I'd like to see him on a limited edition snifter with stem. She said they talk about using him on merchandise and it could happen one of these days.

Wow, I was at the orginal release and received 2 of those glasses. Sadly, they have both met their demise.

Nowadays you can just use auction sniper to do that for you and get a good nights sleep.

It does, but you can't win against the automated snipers, so if anyone is using them you will lose. And everyone is using them. Old school auctions are a thing of the past.

There are two parts of it - the max bid and the lead time. You can pick a time to start dropping your bids in before the close of the auction. Usually sub 10 seconds. You can go as low as 1 second, but the problem is that if your bid goes at 1 second, then someone else's counters that, your sniper may not have enough time to get another counter in before the auction expires. It all comes down to electron speed. I have moved away from actual bidding now because of the snipers unless it is something I can't find in a "buy it now" auction.
