None of the above. I'd drink a stovepipe of Sam Adams Utopia if they made it.

I’d be perfectly fine drinking stovepipes of Heady if they were available near me!

Why not just buy a bottle and drink 19.2 ounces of it? Then you'll have a few ounces left over for later. :beers:

One of my few “Stove Pipe” can purchases, the 11% ABV is pretty high, but I wanted to try it.
I found this in the craft beer aisle at my local beer store, and enjoyed this one at home. The wife loves a good dark beer, and an occasional bourbon, so she was happy to help me drink it.
Usually if I’m at one of the local Ale Houses and they have something like this, it will come in an 12 ounce snifter, for both ABV, and pricing reasons.

A 20 oz pour of 4% cask bitter is what I want everyday of my life.

I recall that in the past you were a homebrewer. Are you still making your own beers?

Last evening I enjoyed drinking my homebrewed Bitter Ale which is a Real Ale since it was refermented in its serving container (a bottle).

    Cheers to Real Ales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are probably incorrect in that the right number is probably zero. But that's a tradeoff I willingly accept in life.

I still brew, though less than I used. I have a Timothy Taylor clone is carbonating now. We shall see.

Call me lightweight or sissy, but over 10% abv in a stovepipe put me off a bit after a while siping on it. But this is more due to drinking the same brew in this larger format.

Variety is the spice of life.

    I chose 6%.

Years ago when FOMO still affected me, I'd drink anything in any size format. Now that I'm 800+ reviews and 15 years into my career as a beer nerd, I generally steer clear of buying beer in anything bigger than a pint-sized serving (not counting 20 oz. pints of real ale of course ).

Out of curiosity (since I'm not too far from you) where did you get the recipe and ingredients? I'm seeing so much Timothy Taylor love here that I may want to give it a try!

It pains me to say this, but the store from which I purchased the ingredients, just closed its doors for good. Blackstone Valley Brewing supplies in Woonsocket. They'd be open for something like 25+ years. I've been going there for ages. Charlie Baron, who ran the store for the past few years, always helped me come up with my recipes. I'm so bummed they closed.

    RIP:

That is a bummer. My go-to local supply store, The Witches Brew in Foxboro, closed a few months ago.

I agree there really isn’t an upper limit
I may be impaired and fall asleep to early
But I will finish it and enjoy it

I tend to avoid high ABV stove pipes more from the excess calorie standpoint

I rarely buy Stovepipes. My issue is with brewers who package big Imperial Stouts in 750 ML bottles. I'm okay with corking but the alternative is to drink with a friend or get bombed.

The "sweet spot" for me on ABV is 10 to 16 or so, though this depends on the style and add-junks.
