I found a young man at a local liquor store that is way into craft beer. He has changed that store's beer section greatly. If something is coming in worthwhile, he will call me if I ask. Good kid.

No, just relish in the fact that you aren't overpaying for over-hyped beers. Embrace the fact that most aren't any better than other beers that are either widely distributed, or that can be purchased at your local breweries/brewpubs.

At least chase trucks with something better than Framboos on them, for starters.

In reality, I'll never understand why people take so much time out of their day in 2015 to do chase trucks when trading is so much easier.

It's far easier, and rewarding to be that nice customer who can shoot the bull about beer instead of being that dick.

Just gotta know what distributors deliver what days. Go to particular stores enough and you'll start to see a trend (time, day of week, brands of beer). Check threads to see what nearby cities have gotten new release stuff

I usually make beer runs twice a week, and always go to the same place [Cheers] and know all the guys really well,I also bring em a Pizza, BBQ subs, or something tasty for them to enjoy, and if I mention a Brew I am Having a tough time getting my hands on, because of those truck chasing Bastards, the next time I come in,and there was a delivery -they always stash me some of what I Was looking for way back in the cooler [like under a case of Miller Fortune..hehe]-never underestimate the power of Pizza! cheers!

My original post was intended to be tongue-in-cheek, but I guess that wasn't so clear.
This is really about frustration towards unequal sharing, not trying to be a hoarder myself. I can talk to the stores all I want, and know every single destination, but if the truck shows up sometime between 2 and 4 and I have to take off from work to get there, well then there's really no chance. What I really want is just to be able to be at 1 store at the right time to get my fair share 1 bottle and go home.
But where do you draw the line between that and chasing trucks?

Jesus. I'd be embarrassed. To each their own I guess.

Let the truck chasers do all the work. Then chase them. I find beer geeks aren't in the best shape....

Do people really chase trucks? I thought that was a figure of speech.

I've been able to get a lot limited release beers by shopping mostly at one place that will carry good beers. Befriend them, but because actually like them not just you can get good beers. Ask them questions and more than likely they will give you the information you need. Why wouldn't they help out a good customer they like. Also, by shopping at the same stores you learn the distro days and times. I can tell you the exact days and the general time what distributors will be delivering. Also, some if the reps are at the shop and talk to them. Stay posted of release with BA and then with the knowledge of your local shop you're golden and no chasing trucks unless you want to pickup a bunch just to trade for whalez bro.

I say, try to find a chaser on the prowl and try to befriend him. If you want just one bottle, he may give it up. Maybe not. Maybe he'll share the info.

I say its mostly about finding a shop that likes you as much as you like them. A lot of times its the beer guys son or something that texts his friends, and within 10 minutes, the shop has a group of people with their wives or girlfriends or moms in tow.l If the same guys are always getting the good stuff, it may be more than just average joe stuff. Insider or backroom stuff happens a lot.

This! I started bringing stuff like Heady, ZD etc to the good guys at Whole Foods just because I got along with them - in return they started holding things like Darkness, BCBS, and they give me the heads up on things. I didn't expect that at all but it shows generosity never hurts anyone!

Get to know your store and be friendly and earnest about your beer enthusiasm. The rest will follow.....I actually get asked where I have been from 4 different stores when I show up.

as much as I love craft beer and the pursuit of the good shit, there's just some levels I refuse to stoop to. Some people need to get a life.

I feel sorry for people that feel the need to post pictures like this. Pretty annoying that someone hogs that quantity of beers but to go online and "show it off" says something about your life. As in...not much more going on than 2 cases of beer.

Talking to store owners about any upcoming releases you're looking for is a good start. Following local liquor stores on social media alerts usually alerts me in time to grab a bottle of something once it's in stock. Some stuff goes too fast or only shows up as a handful of bottles, and you strike out and sometimes you have to be willing to drink a little out of the way.

You figured all that out from looking at a photo of bottles that were posted on the "Post Your Latest Beer Haul" page? I guess going to the brewery, and the stores in your city, and buying what was allowed is somehow now a problem on this site. For the people not in South Florida, Last snow was 4pp at the brewery and most stores. A few people I know went to some Whole Foods where entire cases were available, it was everywhere.

I'm moving out of state in a couple weeks and wanted to pick up whatever good beers I could to take with me. Some are going to regular trading partners that are on this site but most are going with me. Thank you for your opinion though.
