I love me some Enveavor and am getting ready to buy some more. The freshest I've seen is 3/16/12, is it holding up pretty well ?

They just put up on their Facebook page that they are shipping out some fresh cases very soon.

Not playing favorites but endeavor seems to hold up better then other dipas I've had. Yes, fresh is better but the older batch doesn't taste like old nasty, faded hops to me. Just my opinion.

Not to play local hater, but I had a 2 month bottle and it was not for me. Experiment on your own since everyone has different tastes, but I wont be picking up any bottles older than a month. Glad there is a shipment of fresh bottles. Now I just have to hope they will make it on a shelf somewhere and not wait in a warehouse.

I had a bottle from the 3/16 group last week. I'd say it's over the hump and on its way down.

I had a 2/27 (I think that was the date) and it was way malty. the 3/16 was decent, but overall was way better when I first tried it back in march... can't wait for the fresh batch!

When dealing with absent minded distributors (some could claim intentionally harmful based on conflict of interest) and retailers, the onus is on the brewer to wait till shelves are cleared before bottling additional batches. Whether this means cutting back on their bottling cycles or forcing product off the shelf by including a 90 day Best By date.

Of course this doesn't guarantee we will see swift distribution but until a reputation is set in stone with this awesome beer, Saint Arnold needs to focus on the long term potential of it and realize that BA's, RB's, et al. are all hyper focused on freshness (perhaps second only to taste in importance right now) with these big IIPA's and maybe this beer should be part of their rotating offerings and not a year round.

Of course what the heck do I know about distributing beer so feel free to ignore my ramblings.

Keeping fresh beer on the shelf can be a difficult task for all parties involved. Retailers can keep beer fresh by keeping a small inventory, but this means that the distributors have more beer sitting in their warehouses. And they rotate their stock just like we do, which means that old product will ship before the fresh stuff does (which is why Real Ale's Hans Pils was slow to hit the market while Phoenixx was still in abundance). Breweries naturally want to have ample amounts of their beer available, but there's always the risk of overestimating demand and flooding the warehouses with product that may not sell while it's still fresh. The easiest solution is swapouts, but distributors are sometimes reluctant to do that, especially when craft brands are involved.

Saint Arnolds are buying back old batches of Endeavor from the retailers and distributors. They are very aware of keeping the freshest bottles on the shelves.

Love to hear it. I can imagine a time soon when I'll be complaining that SA needs to produce more (=

In all honesty I had one of the late March bottles (3/27 I think) on Memorial day from a retailer that keeps all their beer in a cooler and it was just great. I had had it on tap at Lucky's in Houston the week prior (assuming that was a fresh keg) and the only difference I noticed was the aromatics being slightly muted.

It's always great to see craft breweries do this.

I thought it had significantly faded after 2-3 weeks but it was still decent. I doubt I would like it after 2 months which is why I have avoided any bottles I randomly see. Can't wait till the new batch hits stores so I can get my fix...

Had one (thanks brad!) from the first batch,
Within a week of bottling & it was flawless,
Truly the best saint Arnold I've ever had.
I had one w/ blue okie & a few others & we all
Agreed it was still fresh & delish.
    It's just a great I I P A w/ fine balance & body.

It's a IIPA characterized by bright bitter hoppy flavors and aroma. That brightness has faded even in the April batch. I had one two days ago, but did not finish it. I live beers like this fresh, but when I'm looking for these characteristics, the sweetness of the aged examples just don't fit my mood. I am looking forward to getting another fresh batch. I hope there are plenty of undescrimitating drinkers make up for people like me. The brewery has got to hate us picky A-holes.

I cracked my last bottle last night. This was one from the first release, so its been in the fridge for a few months now. Honestly, i didnt feel like it had lost much. Maybe a slight decline on the burn of the hops, but the fruitiness of it that I loved is still there, and overall i enjoyed it very much.

Must be time to get some new ones!
