I may be in the area soon and may only have time to hit one or two places. Outside of Rivertown, the only beer I can remember having from down there is Rhinegeist Truth and that was good.

Agreed! I visted Mad Tree on a saturday afternoon and it was hopping. Food trucks outside and vibrant crowd. Rhinegiest is just a really cool place with great beer.

This. Also heard of promising things coming out of Ei8ht Ball across the river in Newport. And, personally, I'm a fan of Moerlein, nothing off the beaten path, but some really well done classic styles.

Rhinegeist is fun. Went there for the first time Saturday night. Check the chalkboard for "rarities". During my visit they had 2 different treatments of Truth, a Northern and Southern version using hops from the corresponding hemisphere.

As others have mentioned, Ei8ht Ball is pretty much a must visit. Tons of options on tap, and it's in the Party Source so there is a huge bottle selection to choose from. And since it's technically in KY, you'll find options not available in Ohio (NO 12% ABV cap to worry about).

Haven't been to Mad Tree yet, but I do want to also suggest checking out 50 West if you get the chance.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Looks like MadTree and Rhinegeist are the brews to get. If I make it over the river, I will get to Ei8ght Ball.

Strongly second Madtree and Rhinegeist. Amazing beers especially the IPAs. Ei8ghtballs IPA is really good. Havn't made it yet but 50 W is supposed to be really good. Also heard good things about Listermans (near Xavier)

50 west is a lot of fun when it's nice out and you can sit on the patio. solid beers.

Not a brewery, but HalfCut is amazing too.
