Anybody know much about this brewery? Just picked up a bottle of mistletoe at Bestway since it interested me. Not too many reviews on this site.

Howard Brewing has been around a little over a year. Jason Howard is good friends with OHB and Catawba Valley and puts out a nice product. He will soon be offering 4 options in cans and 2 seasonal releases in bottles. The reason it is appearing in the Triad is because Howard signed with R H Barringer around October. The Lake Fever Black IPA is my favorite.

    Cheers!

I've sampled the Mistletoe and I liked it, just didn't pick up a bottle. I had their Black IPA on draft at Mellow Mushroom and it was solid. It didn't blow me away but I would definitely have it again.

I've had General Lenoir. Interesting. Not sure I would run back for it. It was an interesting concept though

They are doing good things. The Mistletoe gets a lot of well-deserved attention, being that it's aged in brandy barrels, but Jason is brewing a lot of easy-drinking styles as well. Action Man is a very good Vienna lager, and the Trailmaker Pale Ale is good, too. When I visited the taproom a few months ago, he had a pepper version of the Action Man that was very tasty. As Roger mentions above, the Lake Fever Black IPA is very good, and I'm not a huge fan of most black IPAs.

Good Brewer, Good People...Still super small, but getting ready to do big things! Jason and his crew will have an awesome set up once they are finished (the place is freakin' huge!). Cans, Cans, Cans!!! Their core line right now is sessionable and made for drinking several, but Jason is a pretty fantastic brewer and he's got a lot of talent, there should be some pretty spectacular things on the horizon for these guys! We've got a little something (hush...hush) planned with Howard in the next couple of months and we are super excited to be playin' with them! I think you will see them start to spread across the state this year (ish) and definitely start to see a little more coming out of the brewery, they're local, go out and support them!
