Hey, I have the opportunity to acquire some 2008 Stone IRS and was just wondering if anyone had partaken of any recently and could comment as to how it was drinking? Thanks, cheers.

I had one in February that was AWESOME. But I haven't ever had a fresh one, let alone a 2008. If you don't want 'em, I'll trade ya!

I did just pick up 2 from the new release, which I can't wait to try.

had my last bottle of '08 a month ago. great beer but the age brings more of the darker fruit and malt out in the taste and the roast and chocolate character mellows. i personally like the beer better with no more than two years on the bottle.

I had one late last year and it was pretty impressive, especially compared to a 2011 that I just had a few months ago. It was sweeter, smoother, and not as bitter, as one expects with age on a stout. I definitely preferred the 2008. It seems like 3 years was a good timeframe for cellaring the Stone IRS. If you haven't tried it fresh though, it's interesting for the sake of comparison.
