Why would you want to soak your equipment in Starsan for three days? Three minutes is enough for sanitizing. If you're trying to clean your equipment (a separate and also required step), PBW or Oxyclean would be more appropriate. I'm not sure that Strarsan is any better than plain water for cleaning via soaking.

well my thinking was this- when I have a 5 gallon batch made up it just saves time so when sunday comes everything is clean ready to go, not to mention I can fill my spray bottle up with the premade starsan if I need it for hydrometer, thermometer, etc. I guess I might be over killing the situation but it's better to be anal in cleaning than getting a infection I guess, but I do see it your way. I guess I want to make sure everything is super sanitized more than clean since a lot of my stuff is pretty clean already

    Couple of thoughts...

    - You don't want pretty clean. You want completely clean. Sanitizing doesn't subsitute for clean, or rather, you can't sanitize what is not clean.
    - If you do soak your stuff for a long time, be aware that plastic parts, hoses/tubing in particular, may acquire a hazy residue from the Starsan. Probably not harmful, but hard to get rid of, and IMO it makes it harder to see whether or not it's clean.

yeah true maybe I will just CLEAN everything saturday night than SANITIZE sunday that seems more reasonable

I dunno about cups, but http://www.yeastcalc.com/ has a great starter wort calculator on the left hand column.

I clean everything as soon as I brew a batch, then on the next brewday I just have to rinse and sanitize.
As for the recipe I like an ounce of Goldings or Fuggles at 20 minutes in my oatmeal stouts. And once my oatmeal stout is done I pitch an Imperial stout directly onto the yeast cake.

So for the yeast starter I want to make- 1800 ml w/ 2 cups DME sounds good? The oats I just mash in I don't have to roast unless the recipe calls for it correct?

Correct. Or unless you want to (toast).

Is it Me or is a 1800 ml starter too big for this recipe or it's fine? I can't find a calculator out there for correct starter size

Man, am I getting confused with this new format...but here goes anyway:

1028, IMHO needs a large starter and needs to be fermented in the mid-upper 60s. Your new recipe is a little lighter than the original and you could probably get away with a 1 litre starter...but if it were me I'd go with the original plan

I find that 116 gm (=4.1 oz) of corn sugar for priming works well for all of my beers.

That will certainly work, but many people like to carbonate 'to style' which is where the calculators are very handy.
