how come the real world hypeage doesn't correlate to the activity in this thread, a la Other Half, Treehouse etc?

It is strange. The EQ thread is pretty quiet too. I had the Root and Branch collab earlier this week and is really great, I would hate to wait hours in line for a 2 4 packs of it though. And theyll probably have to cut allotments.

Probably occurs on other platforms like Facebook or Insta. For example, I’m not too far from Veil in Richmond, VA. The thread on here is dead compared to how active their Facebook group is. I chalk it up to generational difference and almost everyone moving away from individual forum websites.

Yeah I get the whole facebook/insta dynamics these days. I guess I just don't understand why some social media savvy, line life promoting, merchandise producing, hazy IPA making, new(ish) breweries have pages and pages of thread activity, and others don't

Or is it just a bunch of old farts like me in the Other Half (2014) thread, and all the snapchatting millenials who prefer HVB (2016) and have no idea about BA?

Whats The Veil's Facebook group? I cant seem to find it. Is it as bad as the HVB and OH groups?

Behind the Veil. There is two, one for trades and one for discussions.. The one for discussions is some of the funniest beer related content you will ever read..

EQ and HVB have Facebook groups for fans/traders with thousands of members each, with at least EQ's in frequent contact with the brewers. Those groups are extremely active.

facebook groups are the worst though, and do young kids even like facebook at this point?
IG is great but the comments on mobile are terrible to navigate through.

I like this forum style discussion so much better.

For sure. The OH FB group has thousands of members. But shit that’s a no-no on here seems to be cool there. Like every second post is someone offering their muling services with relevant pricing

I, for one, prefer the thread of 200 gifs after someone posts a ridiculous trade offer. or the 100's of replies that are just "DM".

It's more their function and utility then age dynamics. Theres a much larger and more active trade/mule community than 'bitch about everything thats wrong with new money beer' community.

They have possible art work for next can/s on their website.

They do 1 Saturday release every month...so assuming they keep that pace, this would be the last Sat of Feb. Jan release was on 1-27-18

I can be wrong....just an educated guess based on history

Looking like it’s this Saturday folks. If I end up going I’ll probably have to leave my house at 1 am. Gah.

Jesus. Well, godspeed if you do it, man, and try to get in a few solid hours of sleep before making the drive (and esp before the return journey).

Btw, just wondering, but if the limits are low (say, one or two 4-packs per beer), will you make the trek? What would be the cutoff for you in terms of # cans, assuming you'll be looking at a ~20-hour commitment?

I mean, I’d only be after a 4 pk or 2 of each no matter what and total trip length is only 5.5-6 hours (with gas and bathroom breaks) so not too shabby. I’d also have a crack at the EQ release which sweetens the deal.

Gotcha. Do keep in mind, however, that given the way HV releases typically work, you're likely looking at about 19-20 hours departure --> return home for potentially 8 cans of beer (2.5 hrs / can). To elaborate, you'll probably have to be in line by the time wristbands are handed out (around 8:00, I think?), but the release doesn't actually occur until noon (and the line isn't terribly quick). The last few times I've gone from NYC (about 80 min drive), I've arrived between 7am and 8am and have been served at the taproom around 1pm. So if you arrive in Beacon by 7am (which means leaving VA by 1am), you won't be home before 8pm (at the very earliest).

I don't want to discourage you, but as someone in a similar (though to a lesser degree) position of coming from a distance, I have deemed it certainly not worth it, given the likely low limit and inane turnout. And in your case, there are likely far easier ways to get a 4-pack of each than devoting almost a full 24 hours.

But whatever you end up doing, please be safe.

I did this exact thing for Noumena & Amorphia and was able to hit Sloop and Suarez before hitting Other Half and getting home by 11 pm or so. It’s a hike but really not too bad all things considered. The only things that hold me back are money and extra work I want to get done over the weekend.

I’ve done day trips to Mass before and am no stranger to the road but I appreciate the concern. I’ve just come to the conclusion that one of the things I like most about the beer world is going to the breweries and participating rather than just trading for stuff.
