The wristbands were given out at 3:00 at HV. They are numbered just like tickets I've been told (I don't do releases at HV). Almost went today, but too much to do around here, I''ll get pours tomorrow.

If you are advocating just lining up why bother with un-numbered wristbands, I guess that is what I don't understand. If you are gonna stay in line what is the point of having a wrist band? I am probably being dumb about this, sorry.

I think every way you do it there will be some who see it as unfair. The ones who do it for a business can get there because that is where there business is, buying beer they can resell for 40+ a 4pak,so they probably love it that way you advocate. Many others can get there too, many can't. I personally don't think it is any more or less fair than other ways, just more fair to some and less fair to others. But I see nothing wrong with first come first served, full allotments or nothing.

I’m guessing his point about handing out wristbands but still having to remain in line, is it prevents people cutting and joining their mates close to the front

I can't believe how dumb I feel now, I really am not getting this

The OH wristbands have numbers, or they don't?

If they have numbers how does anyone cut the line?

If they don't have numbers how does it prevent cutting better than standing next to the same people for hours and knowing who is in front of you and who isn't?

If they do have numbers why do you have to stand in a line with it on, why can't you come back when sales start?

    Exactly.

I see your point, I just wanted to bring it up because you mentioned this system eliminates standing it line, yet I have a friend there right now and there are almost a couple hundred people in line from what I've been told. It has to suck to wait in line for hours to only get 1 4 pack of beer, something that I has happened to many people recently.

Bracelets (when they do them) at Other Half are not numbered as far as I'm aware. Or if they are, they aren't checking what number you have, just that you have one.

I am not a regular at EQ but have been to about 9 releases. I have had to wait on a line for an hour once at EQ, and it pissed me off, since I hate waiting on lines. All the other visits required waiting in a line for a half hour or less. I likely will never go to OH because I detest lines, but a line under a half hour after relaxing and sharing great beer with fellow geeks I can deal with.

And I see you are not a fan of the fold up chair thing. You will be happy to know there has been discussion among folks I know about solving the problem of empty chair place holders with scissors.

@cavedave The plague that has befallen Other Half has now spread north ! Now I know Hudson Valley is on the map as the multiple threads are on absolute fire !

Coincidentally I was at One Mile House last night, it was all Hudson Valley for me. I had my first Equilibrium beer, MC2, first pour was very good, it was my first beer of the night , last beer of night was same beer, beers before it impacted it as 2nd one didn't taste as good. Price was absurd, $8 for 8 ounces. Second was HV Mistborne, really good. Then I had Wrench, nice beer, bright and crisp.

I think things will calm down a bit at HV as they plan to do weekly releases rather than one a month as has been the norm. Plus District 96 will be canning soon and that will spread the demand out a little bit. Woodstock Brewing has just opened and apparently they are making some great beer too, so hopefully that will feed the demand some also. Crazy times for all of us, but if it gets like OH around here I am out.

So much great beer to enjoy, hard to believe we still find things to complain about :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and if you see any fresh Fluctuation around on tap I would grab some, though that price you quoted is kinda nuts.

Might as well put a reminder that drinking beer is only allowed in front on the patio where Erik will have tables set up, and that police will issue tickets to anyone who doesn't obey. Also, noise is to be kept down until 8:AM as there are residential buildings nearby.

Let's all try to do the right thing, we don't want what happened to Sand City to happen to HVB.

Anyone had a white chocolate peppermint Sour IPA recently? I'd say I'm skeptical about their combos, but I have been in they past and they've blown me away...

Great point Dave. I went to the zoning board meeting in Northport last night for Sand City and although there are multiple reasons why Sand City was shut down, people illegally drinking in line at can releases is not helping.

So I’m a bit confused - I ordered Eschaton at a bar last night and the description on the menu was a 5% abv Sour IPA hopped with Azzaca (this is definitely how it tastes - awesome). However, when looking on this site and others, the description is an 8% DDH IPA hopped with Azzaca. What did I drink? My guess is that it was really Soulcaster.
