HYPE FOR THIS CAN ART WITHOUT HAVING A CLUE WHAT STYLE OF BEER IT IS, HOW MUCH IT COSTS OR WHAT IT TASTES LIKE!!! JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!! (BUT HOPEFULLY I CAN WAIT IN A LINE FIRST)

Could be that is a clue, though not much of one? I could be wayyyy wrong, but aren't those stylized and cartoonified yeast and bacteria?

I've only ever gotten crowlers from here while passing thru....how bad are lines typically on releases?

    From e-mail:

" You may want to consider arriving a little early because we expect to sell out pretty quickly. For now we are limiting 3 four-packs per person, per style. These limits are subject to change during the day of the release."

There are that many beer geeks in Beacon to sell out a watermelon sour ipa quickly? I guess it doesn't say how much they canned.

It's a can release, beer geeks will come and line up from far and wide.

The last release I went to was pretty mellow. Got there half hour or so after open, waited maybe 45 minutes?

And yeah, plenty of beer geeks in(and around) beacon.

Showed up around 10:30 and was about 15-20th in line. By the time 12 rolled around the line was to the road. Super smooth once they opened the doors. Was out in about 15 minutes and had a few pours while on line. The watermelon IPA is amazing. Especially after spending all morning in the heat.

Anyone know if cans are still available and if so, could the line have been avoided?

Cans ran out around 2:00 something and I was surprised they lasted that long. The line at opening was pretty serious.

Anyone else had their non sour cans end up kinda sour? My last can of sky thing was way more sour than when it was fresh, almost vinegar like. Maybe residual yeast in their equipment?

I know that you kind of need an IPA nowadays in your lineup, but J and M have had trouble nailing the style since they first tried it at Bacchus. Some have been tasty, some have been a real mess. Pity they just couldn't can their sours, saisons, and wilds and leave the hoppy styles to folks who do them consistently well. Would Lilith in cans not sell out?

80 cases of the IPA and of the Sour IPA. Original plan would have let 160 people max out allocations, but more turned out so they lowered limits as they went.

I loved King Wavy but that wasn't the NE IPA style that everyone craves. I wonder if it has to do with the yeast and equipment that they are using. I've argued with bar owners over whether certain HVB IPA's were actually one of their sour beers. I could have sworn that orbital mirror was mislabeled.

I agree that they should just focus on their sour IPA's, they're delicious and too many other places with great NE style IPA's as their only focus.

I have a few cans of Sky Thing and I think it tastes fine. Not as good as when I first cracked one open of course, but certainly not sour. One thing I did notice was that the cans (and growlers that I got) from the release seem to allow me to press in on the can as if they weren't full when filled or the C02 is escaping from the can. Has anyone else had that issue?

Just about every HVB IPA that I've tried has had a distinct barnyard character to it. Not necessarily "sour", but there is definitely some funk.
