Could not agree more, based on what it takes to acquire it was a massive let down.

For those that mentioned KBS this year - I was similarly disappointed with my first couple tap pours and first bottle early in the year, and then I opened another about a week ago and it was like a different beer. The usual thicker, softer mouthfeel was back and the flavors seemed to have melded together much better. It was a pleasant surprise.

I feel like this ends up the case for a lot of the "white whales" because a lot of their perceived value is in the "rarity" factor, not because they are significantly better beers than other options (that might still be limited beers) but are a little easier to acquire.

No question, hands-down, it had to be Hopslam. When I first started hanging around this site, Hopslam was the "it" beer. There were multiple threads discussing it at any given time. So, despite having to pay a huge premium, when a six pack was made available I jumped on it. Man, what a waste of cash. It's not like it fell a little short of the hype, I actively disliked the beer. I'm sure it had something to do with the whole honey thing, but it just really turned me off. I ended up trying one more, than giving the other four away to other hop-heads who had never had a chance to try it. Interestingly, only one of the four said they really enjoyed it. I notice that the bombast surrounding Hopslam seems to have cooled a bit around here, so maybe it's run it's course as the greatest beer in the world. Given how many people seem to love it, I will never say it's a "bad" beer, but it certainly didn't appeal to me.

All were good but I didn't understand the massive hype.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but i was honestly disappointed in Julius. People are willing to trade a kidney to get it, and while it was pretty good, the hype is almost too outrageous for any beer to match.
i need a whole bunch more hands to count the New England hops that i think are better than Julius.

On the flipside, as I go to Treehouse fairly often, i will henceforth be using every Julius can I purchase for trade bait.

I will say that the canned Julius product lost a little bit of that juicy punch but if you are discussing the original draft only batches, I thought it was simply incredible.

Beer chat during work hours is the best. Love you people hahah

Silva Stout was a bummer. So much diacetyl, man, couldn't drink it.

Same here, halfway through the bomber it just started tasting like molasses syrup to me. In general ET is so overpriced near me that so far none of their beers have been a repeat purchase.

+1 for MBCo Lunch. It wasn't bad by any means. And I would (and have) dranked it again. But it just had me so worked up over the hype and fuss that it kind of was an unexpected "good". my own fault I suppose.

I was very let down by 4 Loko Green Apple XXX Limited Edition. I had really enjoyed the Mango Strawberry variant and was expecting a similarly high quality experience but the green apple version had a distinct acetaldehyde aspect to it.

Same here. I'll also throw out Blind Pig. Very let down on both of them. Decent, but not up to the level I expected them to be. Only two beers I have had from RR and both were a month or less old. Still want to visit their brewery someday and try some drafts.

I guess I just prefer more New England style IPA/DIPA's, since that is more of what I can get/drink.

On draft at GI Clybourn, haven't tried it from a bottle.
