My point was he has done it for a long time and done it well, so he gets legacy points from many. They certainly have been passed up in some categories at this point, but still a great brewery.

2015 KBS and 2014 Black Note good both enjoyable but did not compare to Parabola, mocha Wednesday, Chocolate Rain, Grey monday, Sunday morning stout, Big Bad Baptist. I would rather Drink Shroud in brandy barrels or siren noire both great sleepers. Also Hop JUJU was no blind pig or fresh pliny the elder or hop slam.

I would say Heady Topper honestly. I use to live in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and I recently moved to Vermont. Still hard to get from stores up here. Got my hands on one at a bar and it is a great beer don't get me wrong, but its not worth the long lines of people at the store waiting for the truck to unload. There are plenty of DIPAs that are just as good, if not better then Heady. Vermonters go crazy for the stuff and a lot of people from out of state come and pretty much go hunting for it all day.

2014 Vintage Drie Fontenien Framboos, opened it for my birthday last week, was completely flat, watery and only slightly sour. Only got through a 1/4 of it before I drain poured it.

Indeed, I usually try to have low expectations for beers so I don't get my hopes up, but I let me guard down on the Framboos.

Perhaps! I know more and more people seem to be disappointed in Abyss (and a few years seem justified); I'm not one of them. BUT I've only ever had it out of the bottle, and I've never tasted anything close to what you describe. Definitely try from the bottle if you have the chance in the future :grinning:

Ghandi bot is the only one from the list I've tried and to me, not even close to heady. Double sunshine is even more difficult to come across than Heady. I wouldn't go out of my way for any hill farmstead. I'm very intrigued by tired hands and boneyard though and trillium can do no wrong in my eyes (drinking a very fresh vicinity right now!). Thanks for the suggestions!

don't sleep on boneyard, hopvenom and notorious are both legit. I can probably help you out with a tiredhands growler, so shoot me a message, way juicy and hazy but not punch you in the face hops. its all preference.

cheers everyone, have a great night.

Think that may be the first time I've seen RR referenced as decent. While you may not find their stuff spectacular, I feel that calling it decent is a major slight. My $0.02

Here's mine from Page 3 of this thread:

    1. Pallet Jack
    2. Hop Venom
    3. IBUsive
    4. Nelson (not Nelson*)
    5. KRBC Citra
    6. KRBC 5th Anniv/Winter Ale

But everyone's palates are different, so YMMV. Cheers

I got a few! These are my favorite DIPAs I've tried:
(Clearly I am biased based on where I have lived)
    Neshaminy Creek: Blitzkrieg Hops (Pennsylvania)
    14th Star: Tribute (Vermont)

    Victory: Dirt Wolf (Pennsylvania)
    Rock Art: Limited Access (Vermont)
    Fiddlehead: Second Fiddle (Vermont)

15 Sucaba and both the 13 and 14 Black Note. I had high hopes for both. The previous Sucaba I had (2012) was out of this world. This year....not so much. And the Black Note was a solid beer, but not as much as the ratings would suggest.

I liked tribute, love dirtwolf, haven't had much luck with rock art and haven't tried second fiddle or blitzkrieg yet. None of those I've tried from that list have beat out heady for me though. I've had old heady, straight of the truck heady, few week old heady, on tap heady and each one is delightful though slightly different. Just goes to show that we've all got our own sense of taste. One persons "world class" is another persons "drain pour" :grinning:

A lot of RR hate on here! First off, I'll admit I'm an RR homer. Secondly, Pliny out of a bottle and Pliny on tap are two completely different beers IMO. Lastly, for whoever said ALL their stuff is underwhelming; if you think Younger and Beatification are underwhelming there is something wrong with your mouth :grimacing: .
