I think for me, Heady is more a sentimental brew for me. I love it, and yes, I can get just as good hops in Chicago, but every time I trade for some and crack one open, I do a happy dance as it takes me back to the first time I tried it.

Being from Philly, we get all the same Russian River as California (not sure many people know that)....I enjoy Elder on draft a lot and many of the other sours however Younger for me is a common victim of a classic that will always be recognized as a game changer but no longer keeps up with some of the other big hitting hoppy beers, especially not one that demands waiting in line or going to an event. Just my feeling. Opinion is beautiful

CBS at $20 a pour was not worth the price or the hype. Just a smoother, richer Breakfast Stout.

20$ a pour?!!?!?!?! Holy cow that bar *****!

The most expensive I saw was 12$ for a full pour.

Yeah World of Beer in New Brunswick, NJ a few months ago. Their taps are either legendary and expensive or mediocre and expensive.

That is BS....I would have tagged Founders on FB or Twitter....that is absurd. I did that with KBS one time. A bar in the city was asking 18$ for a pour....tagged Founders and they reached out to the distributor.

One I thought was a no-brainer "like" for me before I tried it, but I ended up not liking it at all: Ballast Point Victory at Sea

I dont see the hype with Grapefruit sculpin. Fake Grapefruit sting. Dark Lord 13 couldnt finish the bottle with my buddy. Bodhi was meh. Ghandi Bot was above average. Westbrooks 4th Anniv coconut was underwhelming. Shouldve french pressed it with more coconut.. Fresh Heady is great. A few month old Heady not so much.

The King of underwhelming overHype around MI is Hopslam. I do love Bells and it's not their fault, but man it's crazy town around here when that gets released. 2 bottle limits sometimes. nuts. It's just a good beer.

For being a consensus top 5 "beer state", MI breweries just havent caught on to the tropical hop IPAs. I may be missing something/or some brewery, but nothing in state is on the level with other states in the regions readily available great IPA/IIPA.. Granted, a lot of these don't distro to MI, but if you are a serious BA, you have short road trips and trade buddies. Head Hunter, Most fresh Three Floyds, Pipeworks. Even Spiteful's IPA is better than two hearted, centennial, huma, Norms Raggedy.. DRIPA is probably the best there is to offer and its growlers only (sometimes). They did the Hop Drop (whatever) at solstice and that was pretty solid and coming closer to that SoS, Perm Funeral profile. So good job Kuhnhenn. Let's now work on lowering your prices for the love of pete.

Second Fiddle completely lived up to the hype. Parabola, Black Note, Boneyards Hop Venom, Sip of Sun are all worth every bit of trouble. I cant say enough about Fat Heads Head Hunter. So great and available. Spiteful's Whale tickler is tough to get but totally worth it.

White oak Jai alai on tap is still the best IPA I've had. Something about that slight vanilla/almost coconut with that IPA just did it for me. Permanent Funeral on tap is tough to beat as well. For WO Jai Alai, in the cans it was still good, but lost something.

Bissell Brothers The Substance and Baby Genius - not that there was a lot of effort besides chumming around in line at the brewery, but after tasting both I don't get the hype. Just my opinion and taste buds talking.

My brother acquired Peche n' brett and I couldn't believe what he gave up for that. Nothing complex about it. Had Imperial Stone Bu and it blew it out of the water.

I brought this up in a facebook group too and got a ton of flack for it, but sour stouts never seem to be a good idea with the exception of the Bruery blends..

Bo and Luke, just a terrible mixture of smoke and bandaids. Mouthfeel was right but I couldn't drink more than a half glass. Even More Jesus, on the other hand, is absolutely delicious. So it's not a smoked stout thing...

Seriously? I tried this a couple weeks ago while visiting a friend in CO. The grapefruit was a punch to the nose.

I thought it was fantastic. I wish I could get it around here.
