Beers I had for the first time in the last 5 days.....Zombie Dust (Liked it), Headhunter (Very good), FiddleHead Mastermind (Outstanding), Victory Dirt Wolf (Liked it a lot).

Beer that disappointed me....St. Bernadus ABT 12. Maybe I had a bad one but was a serious letdown...

Heady Topper, Two Hearted Ale, any IPA from GF ever, and regular sculpin... love habanero and grapefruit versions, but regular is a poster child for a generic, near flavorless IPA.
    IMO, of course.

The first beer that comes to mind for me would be mocha wednesday, did not care for it. Another is assassin, not that it wasn't a great beer. Just not as amazing as the hype would have you believe.

I think the relative rarity of the Alpine beers gave them some cachet, but there are so many more interesting beers in San Diego County these day... and now that Alpine's are more widely available, they don't seem to stand up to the expectations.

I couldn't agree with you more!!! Traded for both, and expected the world. They left me saying "where's the hops"? Not my idea of a world-class IPA at all!

Dark lord by far has been the most disappointing. Now from what I hear the Variants of dark lord are awesome and worth trying.

Westy 12, really nice beer but Rochfort 10 is just as good and easier to obtain

Dark Lord is just a hot mess of a beer however....but barrel and vanilla with it and it's incredible how delicious it becomes.

As A San Diego Local and an Alpine Regular let me tell you, what you had was not an accurate representation of Alpine. Since GF Acquired/partnered with them, the beer being distributed has not been the same. It's a quite sad issue they are still dealing with. The beer is watered down, and doesn't seem to have the full hop profile or the fully body to it. If you are ever in San Diego i urge you to visit the Brewery yourself. Cheers!

World of Beer in New Brunswick NJ is a disappointment (for the reasons cited above, plus the fact that the staff does not seem very knowledgable).
They've got a good gimmick though and that's what keeps people coming, I suppose. But 25+ years ago, the nearly Old Bay restaurant pioneered the multi-tap "craft" beer idea and although they had fewer taps, they did it much better (with a more carefully curated selection and bar staff that knew what they were doing).
In any case, New Brunswick has been a 'good beer' town since the early/mid 1980s, even before the Old Bay opened it's doors and took it to a new level.

the hype train surrounding grapefruit sculpin arrived in my distribution area (have to drive out of state for it) long before the actual beer. The day I saw it on the shelf, I got giddy. I love fruity IPAs and I love grapefruit. But it just isn't my thing. In a lineup of sculpin, gf sculpin, and Tropicana grapefruit juice, gf sculpin resembles the juice more so than the beer. only my opinion, and I understand it is the minority opinion. But man was I excited.

    Let's see...

Vanilla Framinghammer was a disappointment. Not terrible, but it was a mess, and not a sweet one.
Alpine Duet was one of the worst IPAs I've had. Maybe I'm just not a fan of the hops they used.
Prairie Vanilla Noir - no vanilla, no barrel, no point...
Hop Juju was unimpressive. A very average IPA.
    Yellow Rose - ditto.
NYFRB - I don't get it. Just tastes like bad root beer to me. Like I'd rather have A&W. And way too boozy at 5.9%.
Flying Dog BA Gonzo - Something must have been wrong with the bottle, because it was completely flat. Inexcusable at $30.
Track #10 - I don't understand the hype here at all. It's not even in the same stratosphere as BCBCS. I traded 2 bottles from HF for 2 of these. I'm trading my 2nd.
Revolution Very Mad Cow - Infected.
Old Stock Cellar Reserve (brandy) - I really don't understand the thing with Old Stock. I LOVE Old Ales, but Old Stock is horrible. The brandy edition tasted exactly the same as the regular Old Stock except they poured brandy into it. The bourbon version is much better.
Rose de Gambrinus: Meh. I expected sourer and more flavor. Almost seemed like NG Raspberry Tart to me.

I admit I've been pretty lucky with trades and long-distance ordering, so I don't have much to complain about. I just hope everything in my cellar is okay.
