I too was just as exciting when finding Duet on tap in NYC. i actually had to make a tough decision cause I only had time for one beer and went with this over Billy 200 Watt IPA (another one I really wanted to try). My experience overall was very different as I thought there were some new (for me) and delicious flavors. The feel was actually my most highly rated component at 5. I found it to be extremely smooth, moderately carbonated and no where near thin.

I just had Stone Ruination 2.0.

It tastes like onions and rancid vegetables.

I'm with you. I had both Hoppy Birthday and Duet since they've come to Ohio and both were deec. I'd rather drink OH IPAs over them though. Nothing special. I haven't had Nelson yet.

Tsk, tsk...you obviously have a lot to learn about building up unreasonable expectations...

Fresh Sucaba didn't really do much for me. That beer is so much better with atleast 2 years on it.

Heady Topper. I was extremely excited to try it but ultimately found it so cloyingly sweet it was difficult to finish.

I never expect a beer to live up to it's hype. I'm pleased when one comes close.

BCBS.... I thought this would be a well crafted beer with certain nuances....... WRONG!!!! Just a huge sugar bomb that was just way over the top, I just don't get why this is considered such a whale, there are so many other barrel aged beers out there that don't do this to such an extent.

I'd say give it another try I've had two bottles that were very underwhelming odd tasting ..but one was amazing I was raving about it the whole time I was drinking it... no date on the 750's tho so I have no clue if New or old has anything to do with it or just an off batch.

Most of the IPAs by the second tier of New England brewers that have their own "better than heady" fanboys. Fiddlehead, Bissell Bros, Stoneface. None were better than the good fresh IPAs I can buy at any beer store around here.

KBS...but "really let down" might be a bit strong. It wasn't horrible by any means, it just wasn't the amazing beer I was expecting (<- key word there).

I'm ready for the blow back.

Prairie Bomb was a big letdown for me, I'm aging one, see if time helps make this more to my liking

NOT Your Father's Root BEER. I do not understand what all the fuss is about.

CBS was a huge letdown for me - purchased tickets, waited in line, etc...just a big sugar bomb. I've heard some other BA locals complain about the joint that held the event (never clean tap lines) but still, it was nothing to write home about.

Okay, not a "huge" disappointment, but fresh on my mind - Uncle Jacob's Stout. Not much on the nose, at first sip it tastes a lot like BCBS, but getting through a 12 oz bottle was impossible. SO sweet and boozy. Unlike most big stouts, it actually got harder to drink as it warmed. I'm going to let my other bottle sit for a few years. I liked Tweak a lot better.

First time I had it was in Chicago on draft (10.7) and loved it , recently had a couple of the bottled version (5.9) and it was totally different . o.k. but a little too sweet . I'd drink one again at a cookout but no more than one .

I was hugely dissapointed with Duet and also Green Flash Soul Style. I popped into the bottle shop at the beginning of my vacation a few weeks ago and saw these were on draft. I ordered both and only drank half of both. The bartender was all confused as to why I didn't finish them. Well, frankly, they sucked and just were not worth the calories.

It might have been the bar's fault though...they serve IPA's way too cold and i wasn't trying to chill for an hour to let that shit warm up.

I've written off that bar because it sucks on a lot of levels.
