Folks... I'm in a bit of a quagmire here... Running a beer dinner with my store and a local restaurant, and the appetizer course the chef has decided on is "Crostini with Hummus"... I'm not exactly what you would call a "hummus guy" (don't dig it... really at all) and I'm having a hard time with the pairing. Any suggestions? I've included the current menu below: Course #1: Amuse Bouch: Crostini and Hummus paired with: Course #2: Appetizer/Small Plate: Pumpkin Gnochi paired with Mayflower Autumn Wheat Course #3: Caramelized Onion Flatbread topped with arugaula, cranberries, pecans, balsamic glaze paired with SN Northern Hemisphere Harvest Wet Hop Ale Course #4: Main Course: Beef Short Ribs, chili oil rub paired with Troeg's Troegenator Course #5: Dessert: Banana Foster Fried Dough with vanilla Ice cream paired with Founder's Breakfast Stout Thanks!!
Lemon goes really well with hummus (lemon juice is often squeezed over it). Since you already have a wheat beer I won't recommend a hef. Instead I think you are best off going with a lemony gueze.
Thabks guys! Since these are geared more towards novice beer drinkers, rather than geeks like us, and because I was leaning that way already, I think the Saison is probably going to be the best for this... Now to find one suitable... Again, thanks for the help, guys!!
