Does anybody have any idea what the bottle count difference is between 2014 and 2015? It seems people are a lot less willing to part with a bottle and I was curious why the reason. I know there is a $200 ticket price this year so overall I think it's about $70 extra dollars to go this year but you get food which somewhat offsets that.

    Thx

I have been reading around and seems people are either saying they are valued at $20 each up to $50 each. I also would like to see a bottle count. Could not find it anywhere.

If you missed Huna Day CCB is doing something for St Patty's day without the $200 price tag. Also without the bottles of huna, but you get some amazing taps.

    "Alright ladies and gentlemen,
We have a very special St. Patty's Day offering for you today, and no it's not green beer.
Remember all those awesome breweries we had here on Hunahpu's Day? Well, we still have a bunch of their kegs. We are putting on all the extra Hunahpu's Day kegs today and will rotate through them until they are all gone.
Once we finish all of those kegs we have a pot of gold waiting for you in the form of Hunahpu's Imperial Stout. Hunahpu's kegs will be tapped as soon as we get through all the other kegs. Come on in and help us make it to the pot of gold.
    Cheers!"

I think you answered your own question.

Mules are one thing, $200 mules a whole 'nuther. Not only that, if I recall correctly, only single tickets were offered to El Cat members, so no +1 (though that could have changed as people, like myself, declined to buy tickets).

End up: I'd wager most people only have 4 bottles instead of multiples of that number this year.

Sounded like it would have been a good day to be a mule--tap list was legit.

Right but last year it was a limit of 3 bottles pp (vs 4 this year), there was a $50 ticket that did not include the cost of the bottles (so $50 ticket + $60 for 3 bottles) and you're up to $110. If you assume a fourth bottle would be another $20 then you're at $130. So the balance is for food and tote I assume, although that is certainly steep.

So if anything the limits are higher this year, which makes me wonder what the bottle counts were. I'm probably overthinking it.

I understand people that went had to shell out $200...the way I see it is they spent $100 for 4 bottles of Huna and $100 to eat and drink all day. Seems fair, right? So my answer would be, about $25 a bottle "value". What is that? In my opinion an Abraxas + BBPT5 should be more than fair, but in my search for a bottle thus far, nobody else seems to think that. I will not be trading $50 of equally rare beer to get a bottle of Huna...just aint happening.

Bottle count was 8000 this year (2000 people x 4 bottles per). Last year was supposedly almost twice that (14,000 was the number I heard).

Bingo. I have 4 Hunas this year. Last year I had 12.

    Quit torturing the poor math!

$70 isn't a minimal amount of money to toss away in getting four more bottles (even though I'm not sure I buy the way you're doing the math!). The bigger issue may be the lack of a "buddy" ticket that's easily accessible - El Cat members could buy two tickets up front last year (I did).

Saying the "limits are higher" this year is almost certainly incorrect. I got 6 bottles last year & zero this year. My trustee got 6 bottles last year & 4 this year. A small sample size, sure, but indicative of people shying away from the up front $200 cost.

Ok this is good info thanks. I guess the added $70 expense was enough to sway folks from bringing a mule. I guess that makes sense.

@maximum12 I get it now, the $70 extra is a strong barrier against bringing a mule. That's probably it as you and @schoellnasty have pointed it.

I do stand by the math and the "higher limit" at 4 this year vs 3 last year. But still see your point. Thx for that and the estimated bottle counts.

That's part of it, but they also didn't do extra sales this year. You got your 4 bottles and that was that. Last year if you timed the line right (as I did) and were near the front at 4pm you could buy up to a case on top of your 3 bottle allotment.

Except isn't Abraxas pretty widely distributed? And people could buy 48 bottles of BBPt5? I'm not disagreeing with the $25 part at all, but the two beers you mention don't seem that close to equal rarity either.

"higher limit" it all you want, but local el cat members got a ton of huna last year if they wanted it (to the tune of 18 bottles if they worked hard enough). this year? four. that's it.

don't forget about that makeup batch.

Adam, I would think the bottle count was slightly higher since all the guest brewers got 4 bottles also. Not sure if that was 4 bottles per brewery rep or just per brewery, but I saw on Twitter several posting photos of their bottles.

I would assume CCB held some back for themselves also.

wouldn't that apply to nearly all bottle releases?

Not sure on the extent of their distro, anyone from Florida care to comment on the availability of Abraxas down there?
BBPT5 was 48 bottles, but like Huna, could only be bought at the brewery, at the party in December (also the Sunday following)

All I know is that I have traded Abraxas 1:1 with Huna twice before, but that obviously aint happening again

Not really since this was an onsite festival with at least 50 brewers that I am aware of in attendance. Like I said I don't know how many bottles went to brewers, but I am assuming several hundred.

    50 x 4 = 200. it was 4 per brewery.

i've not seen any abraxas in the st pete and sarasota areas. don't know about anywhere else.

prior to abraxas hitting distro, i thought it was one of the most fair trades for huna. now, they have gone in opposite directions
