Anybody have any history of getting this done or opinions on it? Any feedback is welcome thanks.

I'm pretty sure Huna needs a pretty decent plus for this. Huna is yearly & Cherry Rye was a one off 2 yrs ago so the # of bottles is not on the same level. I made no effort to look for Huna but still ended up w/3 bottles throughout the last year so it's much easier to get than Cherry Rye

I did this trade 3 times when cherry rye came out 2yrs ago but like @core42 you'll definitely need to add given cherry rye has no plans to be re-brewed and Hunahpu is brewed yearly.

For perspective, I just did Vanilla Rye for Cherry Rye 1:1

I have CR and no way a Huna would make me look twice, as good as this years Huna was too. CR is just hard to get, and really a terrific brew.

Once you have both, let me know if it was worth the trade. I have an extra vanilla and am thinking about doing the same thing.

I am tempted to ship my extra vanilla for a cherry rye, just curious to see how cherry is drinking right now

I did 2014 Darklord x 2 for a cherry rye a few months back and felt like that was a solid deal. I figure DL and Huna are pretty close to 1:1 so I think x2 is probably right on and would still be tough to get done with the current BCBS hype.

I drank one about 2 months ago and it was great, it was my first one and didn't know what to expect, but the Cherry is definitely there, not overly sweet just a kiss of cherry and the Rye barrel gives it a bit of sharpness.

@iTunes....I just had a Cherry Rye a couple of months ago and it was awesome. Plenty of cherry left in it. That's actually what prompted me to trade the vanilla for another.

I think the vanilla will continue to get better with a little time, but if you're on the fence and have an extra Vanilla, I would say go ahead and trade for a Cherry Rye.

    Hope this helps.

I had a Cherry on Sunday & was surprised how much sweetness there was. It wasn't overly sweet but Michigan cherries are known to be tart (see Bells Cherry Stout) so it was a nice sweetness mixed well w/the rye barrel. I loved it & personally would rather have that than Vanilla Rye which I think is just too barrel forward & unbalanced right now

Opened a Cherry Rye at the Zwanze Day bottle share at Jester King, and it was the best version of it I've had. WAY better than fresh, so don't be afraid to go after it right now; its drinking EXCELLENT right now

I have to agree. I opened a bottle on Friday as a celebration, and I liked it far more than I ever have before. I've had it on maybe a half-dozen occasions, but this was the first time in better than six months. The bright cherry sweetness was far more subdued than it had been and was a perfect complement to the stout base.
