Recently got a bottle of regular hunahpu from 2010. Never tried any vintage.

Can anyone who's tried multiple years vintages have any opinions on if it's improving or deteriorating?

    Thanks

The majority opinion is: drink it fresh.

My little voice says: it's good either way. To me, the chile is too aggressive fresh & drowns out the base beer almost entirely (thought it's still really good). I love it with about 6-9 months on it, & with two years on it, too. IMHO, you can't go wrong with this beer at any age.

Just opened a 2010 last week and it was still great, chile is still there after 2+ years.

I used to think that it went downhill rapidly, after a few more bottles (aged and fresh) I think there's just bottle variation.

I'm aging one. I had the 2011 pretty fresh and thought it was a tad hot, it's worth it to drink fresh but honestly it's going to be great either way.

Is this beer somehow related to Zhukov? If so, then it probably ages very well. I had a '10 Zhukov earlier this year and loved it.

Got to try all 3 sidebuhside about 3 weeks ago. I liked the 2012 best (flavors really popped) and 2011 the least. 2010 was a completely different animal (no chile, more of a faint-vanilla zhukov) but delicious nonetheless.

I believe that Zhukov is the base but not 100% sure

    Absolutely drink fresh. Everything fades.

Absolutely drink whenever you'd like. Everyone has their own opinion.

The fun part is trying stuff and comparing how different vintages/beers are doing. You ask 50 people their opinion (like this thread) and you'll get 50 different answers. Bottom line, YOU decide and make your own opinion because that's really all thay matters.

Drinking it when it tastes better is my recommendation.

It's good all the time, just different.

Exactly, so "drink fresh everything fades" isn't really a good answer.

Actually it is the best answer. The beer does not get better with age, it gets worse. Still ends up pretty good, but aging this beer is a mistake. I've never met anyone who said otherwise.

I say otherwise. Sorry. I think the 2011 is better then the 2012 at this point. You're wrong.

Well, perhaps someday we can shake hands then you can retract that last sentence.

It's very good fresh but better with several months of time-taming to this mouth. Your palate may vary.
