What size are the pours? I feel like it's gonna be a long day regardless of the answer...

I think last year 5oz, but generally you get about 4oz... It's a long day and it gets a bit gluttonous after a while because there are so many great beers, that even the good beers get overshadowed a bit. Some stuff that would normally be solid you want to dump to move on to the next. And last year things like pseudo sue were pallet cleansers with no line after sr71 was gone.

One thing that will add to lines this year in addition to the extra people is no bottle shares. There were a good couple hundred folks last year going in and out of the back tent drinking bottles and leaving the lines less crowded. No bottle shares allowed this year.

That and Heady. Might have had 10 of them last year all told.

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks a reasonable amount of pours that can be consumed within 5 hours. I don't know if trying 40 samples is possible.

Depends what possible your referring to...are you asking if you can get 40 samples in the time allotted?...if so the answer is absolutely and you could do it in an hour if your not picky because many breweries have no lines all day...if your asking whether it should be done...well only you can answer that...I think I had about 20 last year but I have learned to be picky at these events over the years because at some point if you drink too many all the beers run together and start tasting the same...my advice is study the beer list beforehand and tick the ones you really want..it will save you time and make your day better...for example Heady had a long line the whole time last year and I never stood in it because I have had it many times...did the same with The 3F and FB Booths as well which freed up my time to try some of my wants

Looking at my scorecard from last year, I had 29, but who's counting...

Oh yeah. I already have a list that includes the breweries I want to try and some of the specific beers, but that list is already over 60. I'll have to make some difficult decisions once the actual beer list is finished!

My plan is to try as much as possible - if I try a beer and don't like it, I won't finish it. That way I can try as many as possible. My girlfriend seems to think we can try 100 beers between the two of us - that's probably not going to happen.

Yeah, I'm hoping to do 75 between us and I think that's pushing it. I should've spent the last year gaining weight for this event. Haha.

Everyone has their own routine. My general beer-fest game plan -- neither better now worse than any other but honed over the last several years -- is to start low-ABV and non-sour. Then go low-ABV and sour. And then work up the ABV scale. Also, two critical things (because the first rules are pretty flexible): drink plenty of water between beers AND dump beer you don't like. Just move on. And have fun!!

Only thing I'd add is to eat a large breakfast or early lunch.

Or both! The only problem with starting low ABV is some of the limited release beers that might run out quickly are pretty high ABV.

That dumping beer you don't like thing could help a ton of people

Pretty sure I tried 60-70 beers last year. Most lines had zero wait... For very good beers, at that! As far as starting low abv, no sour... That won't work if you're trying to get some of the bigger beers... They will be stouts/sours and will kick within the first hour.

True, true!! This may sound a little mom-ish but wear a hat, get some sunscreen on your head/face/neck ... or both. It hurts ME to see the people walking around with faces the color of the shirt in @Dizzydsmith's avatar. "Is that cat gonna feel worse tomorrow because of his hangover or because he has a blistering sunburn?"

Another "mom-ish" comment; I really hope they CCB has more water stations this year.

I brought a couple bottle of water and sunscreen in my backpack last year, and very glad I did
