Ok guys, it's my first time I'm nervous...so I need some advice. I'm buying plane tickets tomorrow to fly down for the week of the Hunahpu release (with points its cheaper than driving) I have relatives about 20 minutes from the brewery, but I need advice on how to handle the day. I've done brewery tours but never a release day, so looking for any help I can get regarding this, if someone wants to meet up down there I am more than happy to join the party as I believe I'm riding solo. Questions I have: When are tickets going on sale and how much are they? What time do I need to be in line? Is cash necessary and how much should I have on me? Any other random tidbits would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time, and cheers.
There's a big thread in the South Atlantic section that has tons of info already so I suggest reading that... Most of what you asked has been answered 5x over already. Be prepared for lots of long chaotic lines with lots of line cutting. Absolutely need cash. Bottles were $20 each and tickets for beer pours were around $5 each, cash only if I recall. There are no tickets for admission to the event, it's free to get in you just pay for everything you try per pour. No idea what time you need to get in line, I got there around 9 am last year and was probably #500 in line. Expect more people to arrive even earlier this year, my plan is to be there by 8 am at the latest. They haven't announced the bottle limit but suffice it to say it will probably be 2 again, I don't foresee them upping production enough to allow any more than that, especially when the crowd will probably double in size again this year. Be aware that they don't actually start selling the bottles until later in the day, last year it was 3:30 I believe, so be prepared for a LONG day of drinking. Check out www.tampabaybeerweek.com for more events that week, if you're coming in early you can get in on a lot of great beer.
Bring a camelback for water. Chair for the line. Coffee in the AM & some good oatmeal stout or coffee beers for the wait in the line. Wake-n-Bake, Breakfast stout, some rarer beers to share. Bring probably $100 cash for tickets and bottles.
