Good morning everyone, I'm sure I'm crazy but I was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on trying to get a BCBVS with a Hunahpu as a starting point Do those with a BCBVS think this is a good place to start and what other kind of bottle/bottles would it take to seal the deal for you?

With the low bottle counts that Huna has every year, its high demand, and high reviews for how it tastes im sure that it should be able to land a BCBVS. Sure, that fact that the high sought after goose island beer that your looking for is a one time wont come out ever again about to be a whale beer is gonna probably put some traders off in letting go of their bottles. Maybe adding another solid, limited seasonal with the huna might help son...

    Shit, i dont..

So... Huna plus one of the recent barrel-aged lovelies from CCB ought to do it?

That should be MORE than enough. I'd offer my BCBVS right now if I was in the US.

I agree that SHOULD be more than enough, but I wouldn't make that trade because I like BCBVS much better than Huna.

    I think a Huna can do a BCBVS+KH!!

No way I'd ever trade a Vanilla BCS for a Hunahpu. Hunahpu really isn't all that hard to get anymore. Call me crazy, but I think VBCS is closer to a Barrel Aged Huny than a regular one.

357 gots, >10k bottles, distributed, vs. a shitshow of a release, a few hundred bottles, 50 or so gots total... yes, you're crazy.

That really sucks. I got one of those growlers and it was awesome. By far my favorite CCB beer to date.

Why not just add a couple drops of vanilla to some BCBS. Boom bcbvs. And the best part about that is you control how much vanilla you want.

When will I no longer be crazy then? 2 year, 3 years? CCB is having tons of success, so I can't imagine bottle counts will stay where they are now for much longer, while the number of bottles of Vanilla BCS out there can only keep decreasing.

Yeah, I always felt this would be the ideal way of getting the "BCBVS experience" without breaking the cellar. Just get BCBS, add vanilla-bourbon extract...???...profit.

Who knows? I thought we were talking about "is closer" not "will be closer eventually". There's really no guarantee that CCB will make more BA Huna bottles, just like there's no way to guarantee that GI's new ownership won't reconsider BCBVS's retired status (although I'm guessing the former is more likely than the latter).

Don't get me wrong, BCBVS is wonderful, but I also loved Rare and the first BCBCS. Given the quality of the base beer, it's hard to imagine that they won't put out some other BCBS variation that makes me kinda forget about Vanilla, especially if they continue to churn out a couple new ones each year.

I've done this with a couple other beers, and an older BCBS.

I forgot to officially report my experiment back in another thread, but I did this last week. I'll have to put up the results there, but....

The correct amount of vanilla extract is somewhere between 3 and 6 drops per 12oz serving of BCBS'12.

Can't blame us since you Midwesterners catch most of the good flies in your area.
