Our customer’s first experience with each year’s festival, and the occasion that truly sets the tone for the festival’s execution, is the selling of tickets for the event. What we’ve experienced in past years with Hunahpu’s Day tickets and with other premier beer events across the world is that announcing a specific date and time for ticket sales allows a small group of tech-savvy and greedy folks to cheat the system by using malware to block entry to a ticket portal until they’ve secured their own tickets or to “cut the digital line” by using back-door routes through vendors’ websites. In the spirit of fairness and egalitarianism, we are proud to announce the following details about Hunahpu’s Day 2017:
-Hunahpu’s Day tickets will go on sale at a date and time between December 1st and December 31st. The date and time will NOT be announced beforehand. We will simply announce that “tickets are now available” at a predetermined time between December 1st and December 31st.

Looks like I need to set up notifications on all social media platforms pertaining to CCB.

bold strategy by CCB to try to avoid the crashing of their site if everyone knows what time they go on sale with advanced notice. let's see how it works out for them

Do they sell tickets at the brewpub (or have they at least in the past)?

    Two issues:
    Plastic tasting "glasses".
Inability to purchase two tickets with el cat membership, but GA tickets can be purchased 1-2 per transaction.

I was at the back of the line with a large group and we were through the entrance gates in minutes. Quick ID check and plastic glass in hand. I hit the CCB tent first and went through each line quickly, hitting Huna and MZ variants like it was my job.
No they don't have to offer el cat members any additional perks, but come on, it makes sense and is good practice.

The fest is held in a city park. The city prohibits glass in the park. That one's not on CCB.

i wonder if there was a way to do entry the same way they did exiting last year. the hotel would probably not be too happy about that but the lines were pretty organized with the Movie theatre tape up...snaking back and forth to get bottles as you left. just one idea.

eventually i think they need to break it up into sessions...too many people in a concentrated area for there not to be any issues.

Buddy, that line went all the way up Beneficial. You haven't the slightest.

And it sat still. Completely unmoving. For at least 40 minutes.

More people checking IDs and also multiple entry points so there isn't just 1 huge line. Assign people a gate # for entry and split the crowd. Also align 1 major hype brewery near the entrance of each said gate # to give those people the best chance at an early pour there.

CCB had the late day announced tappings but at that point the rest of the beers on tap had thinned out so much that people were mobbing those lines. They should tap special beers at both ends of the park at the same time. There are plenty of ways to disperse crowds better.

That said it's still a great day and event. And they try to make it better each year. Obviously less people would help, but it's a business of course.

I had to valet at the Marriott and came late, line was long, had to loop back to a bridge before Harbour island, needless to say I was into the festival in 20min tops. People often exaggerate as in this thread...if you were late into the festival it was your own fault.

Idle musing: Since this has (seemingly inevitably) turned in to a bitch/how-I'd-run-it thread, I wonder how many of the Pissing-and-Moaning here actually took the time to reach out to CCB -- as it requested back in August when I kicked off this thread -- with some of these suggestions.

There is going to be a line to get in. That is life.
After the previous fiascos, I think Chris has done a great job of running Hunahpu's the last 2 years.

If you consider arriving right at open to be late, since the brewery explicitly stated there would be legal consequences for lining up early, then yes, I agree, it was my fault I was "late."

I'm glad you finally came around to that notion

I definitely provided feedback and am looking forward to continued improvements.

I would be interested to know what percentage of total tickets the el cat members buy... I know we'll never know.

I understand where you are coming from. And you were respectful in your reply, which I appreciate. Obviously adding a +1 would decrease the number of public tickets, but I think there would still be a good number. Haven't done any scientific sampling, but from the El Cat members I know, I think the number who purchase tickets would be less than you'd anticipate.

Either way, that's definitely something to consider and could be an impediment to adding a +1. Still I understand the original guy's desire for the +1 and agree for me it would be a good change. I also completely understand / am cool with the way CCB currently does it as well.
