I am not 100 percent certain, to be clear, but I have to imagine that — as it’s been previously — getting the tasting “glass” will be the last part of the checking-in process as one walks through the entry gate.

Assuming you mean tasting glass, that will be picked up as you enter the festival as you’ll be using it to drink all day.

Any hint on whether it will be glass or plastic this year? If it was on the package (which is at home) I either forgot or skimmed over it.

I’m pretty sure it said something about an acrylic taster, so plastic. I don’t blame them, after seeing some people last year I think there’d be a lot of broken glass if they went that route.

I'm all for broken glass, everyone could use a little hazardous obstacle course here or there :stuck_out_tongue:

Either way, the drunken mass of humanity at Dark Lord Day manages to handle 5000x the amount of glass as a Huna taster could consist off...in colder weather, at 4x the size and attendance levels, over 4x the length of time, with a bottle share that starts before gates and breakfast and continues through the night, and tons of swag including goblets and all the other tasters everyone else brings or buys on site.

I've actually broken two of my plastic cups in the past dropping them in a parking lot back in Ohio, and the other two are so scummy they can't be used anymore as it doesn't wash off. The broken ones were actually quite sharp and did actually cut me, ironically enough, while none of my Dark Lord tasters are broken. I think it comes down to being less careful with plastic in your hands. Either way, I'd love to have a longer lasting, higher quality Huna taster.

The tasting “glasses” will be plastic. How do I know? I read the official website:

    All tickets include:
    • Unlimited 2 oz samples of beer during the event
    • Tapas-sized food portions from area food trucks
    • A collectible acrylic sample glass

Also, it’s a Tampa Sports Authority rule.

Speaking of the TSA, expect the entry process to be akin to* that of getting into an NFL game. TSA apparently is controlling the gates.

    * Hair-splitters, please note I wrote “akin to.” It may not be that stringent but it may be. If it is, bear in mind that the person working the gate isn’t gonna be a smiling homebrewing-club volunteer. It’s going to be a paid security person who’s likely not at all into craft beer and who’s most assuredly not gonna give a shit why you think you should be the one person allowed to bring in a prohibited (fill in the blank: rolling cooler, daypack, “Just this one bottle to meet a trading partner,” etc).

    Forewarned is forearmed.

So I have not been able to locate one by searching but is there a thread anywhere that is keeping track of all the releases during that week at the local breweries? Also having never even been to Tampa before what is a "safe" time to arrive for bottle releases at places like AC and Cycle towards the end of the week?

I've watched a few AC release commentaries and it seems almost all of their releases sell out within the first hour or less and have lines that start hours before. I'm not sure if and what they release during Tampa Craft Beer Week and if they are going to announce these releases well ahead of time. If they do release BAIGCCS and communicate it..it will be insane. Cycle releases typical last through the week but if you read some of the commentary in the Cycle release thread the supply may end up dwindling earlier in the week due it being Craft Beer Week.

Thanks @c64person Had a friend check CCB and they did not have any as of yesterday. I ended up getting one on Amazon as I know I have to cart back several Huna and most likely purchases from bottle shops and brewery releases. Do they make a 50 bottle shipper? lol

Based on Prior Experience Cycle Bottles of Sunday-Thursday will start selling out One by One Thursday Afternoon as most of the Visitors start arriving in town...Friday Bottle will sell out to the people in line at 7:45 AM with a low limit

The 4 BA Bottles Angry Chair plans to release will be an Apocalyptic Shitshow...even their Non BA Stuff sells out as quick as they can sell it during normal weeks so these 4 BA Bottles during TBBW are going to have Flippers and Profiteers coming in from the 4 corners of the earth..if you want to guarantee getting yourself a bottle plan on arriving 3-4-5 hours before onsale as the week goes on?...

Argh...flippers. And I just want to consume a dang AC stout and maybe take one home to enjoy later.

Folks need to buy the bottle shippers from the U-Haul site. They come preboxed and are available in 3,6 or 12 bottle sizes. Just order them online and have them delivered to your hotel's front desk under your name. Time the delivery so it should arrive a day prior to you checking in. Call the hotel and let them know you are expecting a package and they will hold it for you at the front desk. When you check in ask for your package. Fill with great beer and ship out the box via a local FedEx store via Ground so it is on it's way to your home prior to you departing. I have done this several times and it works like a charm. Enjoy!

I’m with you! I’m staying with my grandparents, and I doubt if they’ll understand going every morning for Cycle or AC, so I’m hoping for one. Luckily I’ll be there all week, so maybe a Monday or Tuesday release will work better.

Even better, throw a partial roll of tape and some bubble wrap in your luggage along with a pre-printed label that you make at home. Then you just drop it off, rather than have to have them tape it and create a label. It'll save you a few bucks!

Let the Shitshow begin....Angry Chair BA Fionn was posted. No details yet. I know everyone has their personal preference for ticketed release vs lines but I would think online/ticketed would be nice to have at at least one Angry Chair release coming as part of TB Beer week.
