By "long way" I meant that Kansas has come a long way with what they are drinking these days, not how far the beer travels. I would have never guessed to see much Great Divide in Kansas, but I guess I've really only driven through.

Great stuff. It used to be hyped more a few years ago. Only recently has it fallen from hype grace.

Better is completely subjective, but fresh Blind Pig is an amazing IPA IMO.

Whoa whoa wait a minute you mean to tell me that a beer can be good even if people on BA don't masturbate to it on a daily basis?! and here I've been taking whats posted on this website as hardline facts this whole time. What a relief it will be to form my own opinions from here on out.

Sam Adams Utopias. I don't think there are many beers that are more over hyped then this one. When I say overhyped I don't mean the product is awful or anything like that. Like many beers that age for a long time or are trickier to make I understand that you only can produce so much of the stuff and that it also requires a higher price point. While we can debate it utopias is actually a beer ( personally If you can recork/cap a beer and hold onto it for several more years its crossing the line)

Anyways any beer that has a bottle thats demand rivals the actual product inside does not sit well with me.
Once a beer is opened in my opinion it is meant to be consumed with in the day

Such a crapshoot on bottle freshness though, on draft I totally agree with you

I had Dreadnaught a bit past its prime, and still thought it was outstanding. But I prefer my DIPAs to be balanced over bitter, so that's probably why.

Kansas has a pretty decent beer selection these days. Not as good as Missouri's, but they're only 40 minutes away, and we have a bottle shop with an awesome selection of singles. Our local brewery is even doing their first barrel-aged beer release tomorrow (and it's a sour, woohoo!). It's definitely better than some might think.

Well that's good to hear. I think there's several midwest states that could benefit greatly from some great breweries. Look how well Boulevard has done... It's like a monopoly. Nebraska is coming along too, I go there once a year or so, and everytime I visit it seems a little better, both in liquor stores and breweries. Nebraska brewing co. is making some interesting stuff too.

I'll never forget a waitor that I had at Lazlo's in downtown Nebraska though: he was serving a hoppy brown ale and he was like: "You'll need some water cuz it's so hoppy". haha. I proceded to go home and drink a maharaja.

the price is what sets it apart. In terms of price, Sweetwater IPA is amazing. It tastes like heaven too (regardless of price).
