I'll be passing through Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois on I-80. Any noteworthy craft beer destinations that are very near to I-80? I won't have a lot of time, but would pop in for a pint if something is very close. TIA!
Brew Kettle is just off I-80 in strongsville, OH. White Rajah. Fat Head's is also not too far off of I-80, though you'd have to take 71 north to 480, but then you can get right back on 80. both have good food too.
As is 350 Brewing and Open Bottle (bottle shop/tap room) - just one exit away from Hailstorm. Come on, VikeMan! I owe you a beer or two for all the help you have passed along in the homebrew forum!
Flossmoor Station is just a couple of miles off of I-80 in the south suburbs of Chicago. I have not been by in a number of years, so can't vouch for it one way or the other these days, but it could be worth a look.
Three Floyds is a must, as already mentioned. 9750 Indiana Pkwy, Munster, IN. Right off I-80. Zombie Dust, Gumballhead, Alpha King are all great, of course, but you'll find some great off-suit stuff and fantastic food.
Bare Hands in Granger, IN near South Bend make nice hoppy beers, though I'd prioritize FFF and 18th street if you are strapped for time in IN
Stay a week or so in Indiana. Start with Goshen Brew Co. in Goshen. Working your way west - Iechyd Da Brewing in Elkhart, Bare Hands in Granger, Evil Czech in Mishawaka, South Bend Brew Werks and Crooked Ewe in South Bend, Burn 'Em and Shoreline in Michigan City, New Oberpfalz Brewing - a great new German Beer Hall in Griffith - also a couple other new ones in Griffith that I'm not familiar with. Travel about 6 miles farther west to 3F. On to 18th St in Gary, cross the border into IL and stop at Flossmoor Station.
This! Only u can hit the fatheads tap house in Middleburg which is one more exit away from brew kettle for growler fills and to buy bottles and cans. Menu is not as big as the brewery in North Olmstead but great vibe and taps.
