As I have attempted to explain several times on this forum, not ALL Christians are opposed to drinking alcohol. A cursory examination shows that British sourced denominations, e.g. Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians and their offshoots are generally opposed to drinking alcohol.

Denominations that originated from the continent of Europe, e.g., Lutherans, Anglicans, Episcopals, Catholics and their branches have never advocated abstinence from alcohol, not now, not prior to, or during prohibition.

You're not an alcoholic. Some people just have a tendency to view things differently. Awesome avatar btw

So you're an alcoholic. Big deal. There are certainly worse things to be like a liar, a cheater, a *********, a theif, a liberal, a terrorist, a Florida Gator fan, a **** or a politician just to name a few. Cheers.

    If you have to ask...

Stop being insecure. Own it or don't.

Does it interfere with your job? Being a husband / boyfriend? Being a Father? A loving and good family member? Is your hobby negatively effecting you & others?

At the end of the day the battle is yours. You know yourself best. Don't look to Internet friends who don't know you at all to make that decision for you. Again. Own it or don't. Only you can answer your question. Man up.

Sorry to be harsh, but I find this not at all a laughing matter or funny question. Possibly a cry for help.

That's not what I said. I said that people who regularly exceed those guidelines MIGHT have a drinking problem. The guidelines are not arbitrary as you claim, but there is a ton of medical evidence that supports that the guidelines cited above are healthy and that exceeding them elevates your risk of harm. It's all about risk, as anything in nutrition/medicine is.

I don't know, all the alcoholics I know started just like that. It's a slippery slope man.

There are folks in my extended family that think having more than 1 or 2 drinks, ever, equates to alcoholism. No hard feelings on my part though, because their points of reference include some sad cases.

Me, I often go a week to 10 days w/o a drink. So I am perfectly comfortable with my intake, even when I have anywhere from 1-4 or so on a given day, occasionally. I think back to high school, when the 18+ Busch Light night was fairly regular...yikes!

No you are not an alcoholic. What you are is so insecure and unsure of yourself you beg for support from people you don't know. Time to grow up, way passed time if you are old enough to buy beer. You can look up the definition of alcoholism without problem on the net or talk to your doctor.
Either that or you are a troll just wanting to stir stuff up.

Sorry if I misunderstood the intent of your post, but I still think these government guidelines are ridiculous. Five beers constitutes binge drinking? That alone should show everyone they should be taken with a gigantic grain of salt. I understand alcoholism is a real problem, but it's way more complicated than some rigid government definition.

Isn't it a little goofy to be asking if you're an alcoholic on a forum devoted to consuming alcoholic beverages? Obviously you're going to get biased responses. If you think you have a problem, talk to someone trained to give you an educated, non-biased answer.

If you are an alcoholic based on the drinking habits you cite, 99% of the people on this site are also. Actually your drinking habits look very light compared to what most people state when the inevitable "how many beers a week do you drink thread" pops up.

Your family and friends who think you are an alcoholic are way off base.

Do you drink to get drunk? Do you drink instead of eat? Do you drink at odd hours relative to your normal schedule? Do you drink at work ? Do you have more than one dui? To you ignore family responsibilities because you have a bag on? From what you describe it's absurd to think you have a problem. People who don't drink are very judgemental, if you have a beer every day you have a problem, if you have two your an alcoholic. Such bullshit IMO.

Here is my rule of thumb - if you do not cheat on your spouse and you still have a job, you are not an alcoholic.
