I'm not sure this part is correct. Usually when a brewer talks about efficiency, they're referring the the mashing process (how much of the fermentable sugars they can extract from the grain), not yeast attenuation (how well their yeast converts those sugars). If they are brewing larger batches, I would assume their equipment has a bigger effect on the change in ABV than their yeast. I might be wrong about this, but yeast attenuation should be the same regardless of the batch size.

Based on your previous posts I am going to guess that you work for Community. If that's the case, not everyone is going to like your beer. No need to be condescending to someone who doesn't. Take your licks like I'm sure the other brewery employees that lurk. That won't get you far here.

I'm a believer that everyone's palates and taste preferences are vastly different, and change throughout one's life. In no way would I expect someone to like every beer from a specific brewery, regardless of where I work! However; to say that a beer is "bad", or even worse, has "always been bad" is to claim something very different than simple taste preferences- it would imply that there is something wrong with the recipe, final product, etc... When a beer is labeled as "bad" it is usually for good reason. I was basically stating (in fewer words) that, based on reviews from the general population and the Bros, it's not a "bad" beer by any means.

Hmmmmm I think Community Mosaic is mighty fine but I disagree on whether a beer can be plain-jane objectively bad.

Bad *craft* beers: Indian Wells WBA Amber and Anderson Valley Wild Turkey BBA Stout

Not quite what he said. But it doesn't matter what the Bros say, it's what the people say who buy your beer say. Just be constructive with your posts here if you're a brewery employee, we like that. And #befriendly.

The people say the beer is good too.

I see where you're coming from. If you're an employee with the company, it's best to be pleasant. I believe saying the beer is "bad" is pretty ridiculous and deserved the mildly snarky response it received. Let's not pretend that coming to a thread where an employee is posting and saying "your beer has always been bad" isn't trollish and deserving of a snarky response.

Looks like they got their bottle dating program rolling now. My local shop posted this the other day showing their bottles now have dates on their beers (in this case Mosaic).

    Touché.

You're right, my point is that I don't think being snarky to customers is a good idea, ever.

I certainly wasn't trying to be a troll. The last few times I've had Mosaic have tasted far different from the many times I've had it before and, coincidentally or not, the label change has marked the dividing point. Someone telling me the recipe hasn't changed whatsoever leads me to believe that I'm remembering it more fondly than I should, hence the "I guess it's always been bad" line. (I guess substitute "not to my liking" for "bad" and we can all be happy.)

Anyway, I also expressed how I'm anxious to try a fresh bottle (of this "bad" beer) when I come across one, hoping that my recent experiences are the outliers.

Love the new labels. Yes, I am a complete fan boy, I don't care.
