Is there a style you just didn't like until you had one particular beer that blew you away?
Someone left a Monk's Revenge in the back of my refrigerator from a party last weekend. I noticed it and decided I would give Belgian IPA's another shot (I mean it was just chillin there all free and stuff).
Holy Crap on a cracker is was delicious. What about ya'll?

I didn't understand quads until I tried Malheur 12°. And then I tried a Rochefort 10, and a St. Bernie's ABT. Now I have a sixer of Westy XIIs I'm cellaring to maturation

First thing that comes to mind is Old Ale's. I had Bruery Bois on tap once without ever having Old Ale, and now I love me some Old Ale.

Never thought I would enjoy a fruit beer, all tasted very artificial...then I was introduced to New Glarus.

I would have to say that Bigfoot opened the doors to Barleywines for me. American, then on to English.

Rauchbiers are among my favorite things in the world these days, but I wouldn't be into them at all without the gentle smoke and otherworldly malt character of Rauchenfels Steinbier. I went from 'hey, this ain't so bad' to 'I need more of this stuff!!!' over the course of two bottles.

IPAs until I had Sierra Nevada Celebration ale and Northern Hemisphere Wet Hop IPA. Those two IPAs has allowed me to appreciate the style and I enjoy one every now and then.

Was always a stout/porter guy...trip to VT to get something called Heady Topper changed that. Now I can't get enough. Always searching out new IPAs

Didn't like sours until I tried Rodenbach Grand Crud. Then something clicked for some reason.
Didn't particularly like Guiness until I tried it in Ireland. Though I still don't like it in in North America.

Never thought I would drink a sour beer. Then I had Fou Foune. Tears of joy. Now Sours are my favorite style by far.

Great thread! Lots of options for me.

IPA - Enjoy By. Granted, I'd never had an IPA before, but I instantly fell head-over-heels. (Kids, do not try that at home; Enjoy By is not a good choice for a first IPA, but damned if it didn't work!)

Tripel - Had a few abbey ales in college, and they never stuck. About a decade later, I run across Westmalle Tripel, and my beer world completely changed. Still one of my favorite beers, mainly because they completely opened a window into the world of Belgian beer. (Westmalle also gave me the first Dubbel I really, really liked.)

Pale Lager - Yep, I'm going there. I always hated fizzy AALs. The classic Spaten lager changed my mind. Germans know their lagers. (Honorable mention: Reissdorf Kölsch, while not a pale lager, taught me that a light, pale beer can still taste fantastic.)
