So, on Tuesday of this week, a friend mentioned that a place was blowing out a certain beer at a very low price. I was all "Guess I gotta". I mentioned it to another friend on Wednesday, and he, literally, said "I guess we gotta". We go to the place on Thursday, see there are cases and cases of the beer, and start shooting messages out to friends. A near universal response was "Guess I gotta grab a few". So, great timing for this thread.

Oh man, you should have jumped all over that. GI had those '12 BCBCS bottles at a migration week event I attended as well, bought two. They're drinking perfectly!!! Actually, our bottleshare group just did a side-by-side with a '13 and the '12 won out. Gotta remember, these bottles have been stored cold by GI until just now... you're not going to find a better example of BCBCS in the wild.
Sometimes it's not always about if the coffee fades or not; it's how that coffee flavor aged and developed into the beer. I love a fresh coffee roast flavor as much as anyone, but often the mellowing/blending of those flavors can yield a better result than the assumed "best fresh" taste.

Someone at the tasting summed it up best: "I love what this beer has become"
Cheers anyway man, there'll always be others!

The worst part was that I was so panicked, I didn't check to see if the other Armand'4 bottles were different from what I grabbed. There is a chance I passed on the full seasons set :astonished:

No, just keeping myself in check.

Also, I don't mean to come off like I'm immune to the "gotta" bug. I walked into City Beer Store this past February and PtY was quietly on tap. I have had the beer twice before, I don't enjoy as much as others seem to, and I definitely wasn't in the mood for such a high abv. So what did I order? A PtY of fucking course...

Never turn down PtY when available & no waiting in line. Especially if you've only tried it twice. Well done sir. I concur. ;-)

True story...I arrived in SW Florida on October 3rd, 20014 at 7am after a 16 hour drive. Ate breakfast at the local Perkins and then headed to Wally World for vacation supplies. Hit the beer isle and found 4 six packs of Jai Alia for $10.99 a six...flipped over the cans...date on bottom...September 29th, 2014...I guess I have to buy all 4 six packs...and I did!

If we have learned nothing else from so many posts, it is always that this year's is not as good as last year's blah, blah blah. So based on this, the 2012 should have been better than the 2013.

    $20 for '12 BCBCS bomber?
I would have snagged that without any buyer's remorse whatsoever.

Well, 2013 was the first year vintage I've tasted. It will be the last. If thats any merit?

Last week I opened up my sealed pack of 2012 beer and my 2nd to last beer was a 2012 La folie. It sucked because my friend got a 2012 BA speedway stout. I slid my beer into a plastic sleeve and hoped for better luck next time.

I would have bought a couple at least. If you truly like something and it is hard to find, then I generally do not feel bad about it. Especially when it is something that does not need to be consumed immediately. With winter approaching, having a few extra BCBS around couldn't hurt. This is all subject to personal finances. If you are strapped, you are strapped. Only you know what is right for you. If financially it didn't make sense, then more power to you. Some people would probably go into debt for those!

I appreciate the thinking in your post, particularly because it lays bare the influence of the community here in a way that is rare.

It's not hard to find people expressing that they won't buy a beer because of: money, quality, or personal preference. Despite the fact that you mentioned cost (opinions will vary on what is acceptable here) and suspected that the quality in this particular instance might be less than ideal, I gather that your intention here is to relate that you simply walked away from something that you might have previously considered an "automatic purchase." This might seem like an incredibly minor thing to some, but it's a refreshing sentiment amongst the avalanche of content that makes us believe that we need these things more than we really do.
