This brewery, is top knotch imo. I picked up my first case of hop stoopid, at 44.50 a case of bombers thats just under 3 weeks old...truly an amazing beer at a wonderful price. Just wow

I haven't had their entire line-up, but I also have not had a bad beer from them yet.

Lagunitas has shocked me! I am surprised at the widespread distribution of this NorCal favorite.
I think it is really good beer.

I've got tired of it because it's been one of my cost effective go-this for a long time now. I always assumed is was restricted to NorCal and nw coast, but I know different now. Wow!

I still picked up a full case of this and Sierra celebration from Costco last time I was there!
I think both were around 24 for a case!

I was at RRB and Lagunitas today, and while Lagunitas is good...RRB is just so much better liquid-mouthsex. Im not a big ipa guy but I came home with 30 pliny and only 2 growlers from Lagunitas..

Someone chime in if they know for sure, but I hear Lagunitas uses a hop oil concentrate in place of pellets or hop oils, I believe this because man other hoppy beers fade quickly...I've never had a bad hoppy beer from Lagunitas...Hop Stoopid with age still has a super hop character...it's amazing. I though I heard this before, but don't take this as gospel.

I'd guess the bigger malt is much more likely to be the culprit. Hop extracts should have just as much alpha (bitterness) acids/flavors, and just as much beta (aroma) acids/flavors as the whole cone. Only difference is being more stable as they're preserved (high proof alcohol).

I know they use hop shot for hop stoopid for sure. Instead of adding 15% aa hops they are adding the equivalent of 80% aa for a bittering charge at the beginning of the boil and then finish the rest with hops. I'm not sure if there is a correlation with percieved hop fade over time and the use of hop shot, but it would be interesting to look into.

There is all kinds of shit but Sucks' price point and ability to obtain when out can't be touched. Period!

Because I am such a Lagunias fanboy it makes me feel a little more, I don't know, impartial I guess, to be able to say that Brown Shugga is way too sweet for me. OTOH last trip to the mega store on Saturday saw me walking out w a 6 of IPA (underrated BTW) and a 6 of Sumpin Sumpin...

Lagunitas is probably the most consistant and available brewery as far as their ipa's are concerned. I really want some fresh sucks!!

When I express my joy over Lagunitas Maximus, Sucks, Brown Shugga' etc., it is because they are NOT grapefruit, bitter bombs. SO many other DIPA/IPS's are just that and that's why I like Lagunitas so much. They are juicy taste explosions without the bitter grapefruitness you get in every other of the 6 million IPS/DIPA's.

Few yrs back, when I had my first Maximus, I thought it was awesome. I have had many of the top DIPAs since and although it doesn't have the same "WOW!" it seemed to have back then, it's still a great brew. a tad underrated on the two rating sites.

"Lagunitas" is a great brewery, no doubt. heh heh....sorry

Maybe if I lived closer to the brewery and could get their ipa's fresher, I would buy more. I drank plenty of Sucks and Daytime last year because they were as the OP described - "juicy fruit explosive" due to being only weeks old when they hit my area. But their other ipa's which I can hardly ever find less than a month old are just ok fallbacks - but I do enjoy lil sumtin and the pale ale whever I see it on tap - which is rare. Daytime never even seemed to make it to my area this year except for a couple casks. Maybe when the Chicago brewery comes online, things will change...

Slug down 3 of them, pass out, and dream about drinking them all night long?
