I used to drive myself crazy trying to acquire even one bottle of the special release, or seasonal release, or just plain hard to find beers. Calling all over the place. Driving all over the place. Sweet talking the liquor store employees every week so that they might hold a bottle back for me when something special gets to their store. Then, one bright and sunshiny day, I realized that I had tasted lots of great beers. I realized that if a seasonal release isn't acquired this year, I'll have another shot at it next year. I realized that sometimes, the one time only releases aren't always worth the hunt (although sometimes they are). And I realized that any special beer that I don't acquire will end up being enjoyed by another like-minded BA who will get a chance to savor it because I wasn't there to buy it first. So, I decided to pull the reins back and not kill myself searching so hard for these beers.

A week later, a liquor store employee called me to ask if I wanted a bottle of Curmudgeon's Better Half even though I wasn't on the list. Why, indeed, yes. I did. A couple of weeks after that, at a different store, I was searching through every bottle on some shelves in the corner of a store (this was last week) and I found a bottle of Founders Imperial Stout. The store owner told me that I was lucky to find it. I agreed.

I find its more when I trade for a growler of an IPA, or a bottle of a special IPA, I want to share it with a tasting partner. Hard to find time and then I hold it. Need to just say. I can get another one.

    Cheers!

I knew a bunch of Youze guys were crazy right after the first "Too much time on BA LIF" thread started.

I don't trade and typically don't cellar and I've got the bottom shelf of the fridge taken over by beer, but I persist in going to the packy to pick up something new.

I think I need the Ghost of Brewskis Past to appear and remind me that it's not a sin to drink the same brand or style twice in a row.

That is it! This thread has inspired me to place a new rule on my beer cellar. Drink one cellared beer each week.

I typically drink at least 1 beer a night, usually what I have in my fridge - seasonals, off the shelfers etc.....

I am going to drink 1 "cellared" beer each week. Probably on a Friday/Sat/Sunday....

I, for one, appreciate your sacrifice.
