Well, I have searched the forums and would still like to ask for some help. We are from the SE corner of AL and do most of our beer travel in FL since we live 5 miles from the border. We head to Tampa regularly since our best friend is Wayne, the head brewer at CCB. That aside, we are finally heading to Seattle to visit our daughter in Sept. She lives on 46th Ave SW and we will be there 9 whole days to immerse ourselves in Seattle beer culture. I need ideas for breweries/tours, bars, bottle shops etc. to keep us busy. She asked us what we wanted to do and after looking at the usual tourist stuff and cost, hubby said I'd rather spend that on beer! Cheers and thanks, Sharon Dothan,AL
The down and dirty short list: Beveridge place Brouwers Chucks hop shop Pine box Fremont brewing Black raven brewing Reuben's brews Bottleworks Wurst place Naked city Sixgill Whole foods Roosevelt Beer junction Malt and vine Gastropod Elysian Capitol hill Schooner exact brewing Full throttle bottles Two beers brewing That should keep you busy
Since your daughter is in West Seattle, your best option for 'drop in' stops for those times you don't want to venture far from home is Beer Junction. They have a great selection of bottled beer, have a small bar, and do growler fills. Plus, it's a chill place. Others may encourage you to visit Super Deli Mart --- if you like listening to an owner berate his employees inside a somewhat dirty little convenience store, feel free to stop by Super Deli Mart. Also, knowing it's not beer-related, our family's favorite pizza joint is Pegasus, not far from your daughter's place. It's on Alki. She'll know where Alki is if she hasn't already been to Pegasus. They have 5-6 craft beers on tap but nothing spectacular.
Beveridge Place and Elliott Bay Brewing are also in West Seattle, no? Prost! also has a West Seattle location if you like German beer/food. And I'll second the Beer Junction recommendation, especially if you're already based in West Seattle. One of the best bottle shops, if not the best, in the city. Here's a beer map, I've centered it around West Seattle but you can move it around. Lots of great beer locations all over town. Enjoy your visit!
If you want to get out of the city for an overnight trip, I'd suggest a visit to my neck of the woods, Bellingham. There's great hiking, the islands, and we've got plenty of beer. If you decide to head up shoot me a message. Enjoy your visit!
