So back in March I stumbled upon some fresh Sculpin, which rarely makes CT appearances, and purchased 3 bottles. I had one, and it was great, I gave one away, and the other I forgot about until just yesterday when I was checking the inventory in my fridge. I saw the bomber in the back of my fridge and couldn't tell what it was... I pulled out everything in front of it so I could get to it and my heart sunk when I realized that it was my Sculpin. I had truly forgotten that I had it. I will still drink it, although being 2 months old I am sure that it has lost a lot of what makes it so special. Either way, let me know if any of you have similar stories. I really need a better way to keep track of my beers that are date sensitive.

I wouldn't sweat it all that much, kept dark and cold it will still be good.

I know... in all likelihood I won't be able to tell the difference, it's just frustrating

I take a pic, set cell phone alarm, then when it goes off it shows the pic of Sculpin and I say out loud - "It's Sculpin Time!"

I keep my age worthy stuff out of my fridge for the most part, except my KBS stash. Whats in my fridge is stuff that's drinkable right now, this way stuff doesn't get lost. I try not to over buy IPA's and such, but if a case is found at a good price I buy it.

That's probably my problem is that I ended up with too much non-agable stuff. It's hard to restrain myself I go to the package store....

This is exactly why I keep an excel spreadsheet of my inventory categorized by date with RED Highlighting of any beer that must be consumed fresh. I feel your pain man.

Did you try it? Do so with an open mind. Some IPAs do fine for that long, plus sculpin has enough malt backbone to still be tasty.

Haven't had yet. I will def keep an open mind... Due to it's scarcity I really wanted to have as fresh as possible. Who knows, maybe i will be really supprised when I try it. Will probably have it tonight and will give an update.

Beers getting lost in the fridge is much like socks that lose their mate in the wash. It just cannot be explained.

Don't buy volatile brews anymore. Time to start buying some super pasturized lagers that can sit on the shelf for years...

It was in the fridge the whole time, so that helps minimize hop loss though there will be some.

If you can't tell the difference why would that be frustrating?

The notes are slighted muted by stomach acid and dinner on the return trip.

I did that with Sculpin ad Victory at Sea as well. I drank the Sculpin (and hated it), but the Victory at Sea I enjoyed it. Lost a touch of vanilla, but still amazing. Its better to drink it than trade it away to someone under false pretenses which I almost did.
