Glad to see some new and old businesses popping up and thriving, not only breweries but also Lockhouse Distillery as well.

Buffalo here. Consumers beer stores and restaurants are selling a lot of these local beers. Big Ditch Hayburner IPA is fantastic.

Unfortunately not. Tap at local bars, restaurants and growlers only.

What's the best local option that is packaged?

Don't think a single "new" brewery in Buffalo is bottling as of right now.

Yeah but....Flying Bison has many beers that are bottled. They are not a new brewery but with a new location & some new recipes they might as well be.

I've got family coming to Pittsburgh from Buffalo for the holidays. Looking for a nice ipa or two that's easily obtained and not available here.

Flying Bison IPA can be found in grocery stores around Buffalo. Others like Community Beer Works & Old First Ward have to be obtained in growlers on premises

I lived in buffalo while in college for 5 years. Community beer works IPA is the best beer from buffalo IMO. Resurgence is the best new brewery. Flying bison doesn't make anything notable.

CBW is doing good things. Enjoyed a Stout Affective Disorder yesterday. Headed there in an hour to get a private release Christmas Ale after going to Horsefeathers to get a first day release of Lockhouse Gin.. Resurgence has a great facility & I love the bread bowl made with spent grains by a local bakery named BreadHive. I stopped at BreadHive yesterday & bought a bread bowl to put out on Christmas. I find that the beers at Resurgence need work. OFW has only been brewing since earlier this year but the beer gets better & better every time we stop in & a they have great Rueben salad. Hamburg Brewing has another great facility & the farm house Saison is very nice. The new facility for Flying Bison is outstanding particularly when compared to the old joint. The new retail manager is the guy who ran VBM for years & he is determined to make the Bison the place to go. They have changed the recipes for some of the beers including their IPA which I think is the best Buffalo area beer & have a growler in the fridge now. We all have different tastes, expectations & opinions but as a lifelong Buffalo guy (68 years) who has chosen to live here I am extremely happy with what is going on in town now not only in the craft world but the theater scene, the art scene, the entire social scene & the employment world.

Hello fellow Buffalonians! It's great to see the scene picking up so much steam. And consumers and premier really are carrying a lot of local beers at the growler fill station.
i agree that most of the breweries are (hopefully) works in progress, but I still love to support them. It's about managing expectations for me at this point. I did grab a bunch of bottles of Imperial Sponge Candy stout from resurgence last weekend. It's not bad, and my friends who live out of town now will hopefully enjoy them as xmas presents. I'm interested to try the bourbon barrel version, whenever they decide to bottle it.

That was their first bottling, I believe. I grabbed them at the bottle release party. I'm not sure if any made it into the stores. I did grab some extra bombers, so if you want to meet up some time, I could help you out. Just shoot me a message. It's pretty good, and I like supporting stuff like that. I've got mine hanging out in the basement. I'm interested to see how the taste evolves over time.

    Hoppy New Year
    New Year. New Beer.

Please join us at 15 Lafayette Ave on January 3, 2015 from noon - 8pm as we unveil our new year round offering, That IPA. Brewed with Simcoe & Mosaic, That IPA just plain kicks ass. I know what you're thinking. Only one beer? Just a few days after New Year's Eve? Why leave my nice, warm house? Well how about a few more? We'll also have, for the first time ever, ABV IPA, brewed for Mike Shatzel's new ABV burger bar in Allentown. And a brewery only release of an oldie but goodie, IPFrank. And a double dry hopped cask of The IPA. And Singularity (Galaxy). And a new batch of The End Is Rye. And maybe a surprise. Or two surprises. All beers will be available for samples, glasses and growler fills.*

*Ok, ok. No growler fills of the cask. Sorry.
