I Should Have Got Old Thumper

    I know Shipyard get's wrecked in here all the time..But I"ll take a 22oz. of Double Old Thumper any day...and once again going againt the COOL crowd....I love pumkinhead in the fall...just saying

    I've had Shipyard Applehead, Monkey Fist, and Export Ale - the first two from a beer of the month club as a b-day present, and the last from a Publix supermarket when I was visiting Florida. They were all pretty good. The Export Ale was easygoing, and the Applehead tasted not-too-sweet with Thanksgiving spices. Monkey Fist was fine too - don't know why it doesn't have a higher rating.

    I want to try Geary's Hampshire Special - might have to ask my local distributor to stock some.

    The longer I've been around, the more beer I've drunk, records I've listened to, food I've eaten, etc., the more I confident I am that no one's opinion is any more valid than my own, it's simply theirs. Doesn't matter if it's Shawn Hill, Jim Koch, Michael Jackson, Alan Pugsley or Rick Santorum. Taste is taste and there's no accounting for it. Drink what you like and don't worry about what other people think. Suggestions for new beers are nice but people trashing your favorites isn't and it must be taken with a grain of salt.

    That said I think Shipyard is awful. It's been at least two years since I had Pumpkinhead and I can still recall vividly how bad it was.

    You know, the bar I manage sells a lot of top quality IPAs for pretty good prices (Lagunitas, Smutty, Resin) and yet the shipyard monkeyfist on tap outsells them all....I can't really wrap my head around why. Maybe that's a different thread?
