gojng to be driving from Tampa back to New Jersey in around a month. I'm looking for breweries to stop at I plan on making 2 stops prefer north/South Carolina and one in DMV. Suggestions on places where I can drink great beer and maybe a bottle release. Would like to stay close to 95 maybe an hour or so off. I'm leaving Friday November 5th. If you have any knowledge of bottle releases, special events please let me know
Whenever I make the trip along 95 I always stop for lunch/dinner at Mekong in Richmond. Not that far off the highway and The Answer is also right there. If you're thinking Charleston for night one, Richmond may make a good second stop.
Most Richmond (proper) breweries are really convenient to 95. Mekong/Answer would be the farthest away but even that isn't very far

Doing hardywood for the second night. Looking for somewhere close to South Carolina. I drove straight down here I would never do it again.
Va Beer Trail's calendar will be a great reference for any releases happening around Richmond and really anywhere else in VA so be sure to check it a few days before you head up. if you will be coming through any weekend in Dec then there will likely be a GBS variant release of some sort at Hardywood. http://www.vabeertrail.net/events/action~month/exact_date~1446350400/request_format~html/
And make sure to make sure to check that Hardywood is opened when you stop -close early on Sunday and closed M/T. Isley and Ardent are both within a mile of HWP as well
After hitting Westbrook, Coast, and Edmunds(good food here) then I would recommend staying downtown and walking to some of the beer and cocktail bars. Tons to choose from but here are a couple standouts for me. Closed for Business - Good beer and food McCrady's - High end restaurant but I recommend sitting at the bar and trying an app with a cocktail(best cocktails in a town full of them, in my opinion) Hominy Grill- Breakfast in the morning
I recently stopped in Savannah, GA (right over the SC border) on my trip from NC to Orlando and back - really enjoyed the stops and found some good spots.
Not sure what route you're taking out of Tampa, but if you'll be on I-95 through Jacksonville you've got Aardwolf Brewery, Intuition Ale Works, Bold City Brewery, and Kickbacks (not to be missed) all within 10 minutes of the freeway (the last 3 within 5 minutes of each other).
Thanks everyone I appreciate it. Stopped at seminar brewing in SC very solid beers Brewmasters in Wilson NC was one of the best bottle shops I've been in great selection. Stopping at hardywood tonight for a beer or four I'm staying about a mile away Any food suggestions? Maybe good BBQ, stuff I can't get in jersey
