I was just enjoying a Celebration Ale and thinking to myself what an iconic label this has become.

I know the colors have varied but the cabin and theme have remained the same for so many years (so far as I can remember).

This made me think - what are your favorite craft beer iconic labels that have stood the test of time?

At one time Sam Adams had some nice labels. Now they just keep getting worse and worse with each successive change. For that matter, so does Abita.

Wicked Weed packaging has been great from the beginning. The entire branding exercise was a brilliant success that was well thought out and ultimately very rewarding.

New fireplace/chimney in a different location? Or maybe the front and the back of the place look the same ("shotgun shack" style)? Either way, new windows...[IMG]

Good call on the difference - I like the older windows as the two over two panes and three over three panes represent an older time. While I like the sled in the first image I prefer the raging fire evidenced by the pouring smoke in the second label....

Probably depends on how you want to approach things but Founders Breakfast Stout always had a certain pull for me.

    Just always dug it.

Nothing better than a young lady squeezing into that dress with handfuls of beer. Winner for sure.

Deschutes Jubel Ale. Different every year but the fantastic artwork makes it iconic.

There’s so many great labels out there, but a simply Pliny is just utterly simple, and it’s really perfection. Sometimes simplicity can be overwhelming.

I agree to a point. The dressing isn’t fabulous, but neither is a hot 22 yr old young lady wearing granny panties. But underneath , good god.... we know what there. I do like that sleek silver can because of the promise of what’s inside.

Haha that’s great! I think it’s iconic in its own fashion. Not the sexiest can per se, but to nc’s point, it doesn’t need to be flashy or incredibly creative to be considered iconic. The beer alone is iconic enough to bring the can design up to its level along with it

Hill Farmstead - Clover & Civil Disobedience

Tree House - Julius & Juice Machine
    Bissell Brothers - Swish
    SARA - West Ashley

This is kind of hard, a lot of classics have been rebranded for the worse.

    Iconically bad:
    The Brown Note
    Every iteration of Weyerbacher labels
    Drunk Egg Head Baby

The old Nugget Nectar label was pretty iconic. In fact Troegs used to have some of the sweetest labels around. Here are some others...

The annual Our Special Ale from Anchor. Different tree (and spices) every year but similar label design.

Cantillon Gueuze 100% Bio (Belgian Label, not the one used in the US).

It depicts underage drinking and public urination and full male frontal nudity. The fellows at the TTB probably lost their mind when they first saw it.

Beat me to it. One of my favorite beers of all time and it was the label that initially piqued my interest. Not everyone buys into Stone's shtick, but it was brilliant at the time and still iconic. "You're not worthy!"

That's Manneken Pis on the label, one of the the most iconic landmarks of Brussels...

Talking about Cantillon labels though, how about Rosé de Gambrinus, featuring *gasp* a naked woman, which has caused it to become censored in the USA, as well as other countries. A pair of cartoon breasts is totally unacceptable, of course .

The image of the "Manneken Pis" statue has appeared on US labels (from COLA #06240000000035, August 2006):

TTB COLAs #18269001000084 and 18108001000580 dated 2018 exist for that label, cartoon breasts and all.

As with the case of the above label, too, it's always possible that an individual US state(s) does prohibit it.

I've always really liked Ballantine's labels, particularly the three rings logo which is simple, distinctive and timeless. According Wikipedia they adopted the logo in 1879 and it still draws my eye; impressive considering how companies these days go through major rebrands every 5-10 years. I would love for Ballantine to make a comeback.
