looking for fun ways to educate our customers about craft beer for pittsbugh craft beer week. any fun ideas? we have some samplings going on and i was thinking about maybe pairing some cheese and putting hops and grain out for people to see, smell, and taste. i was also going to do a blind sampling of bud light, miller lite, and coors light to see if people could pick out which is which. thats all i could think of for now but it would be interesting to hear from other craft beer lovers out there. thanks
Maybe do a blind tasting of Guinness and a RIS...show them what a real thick stout tastes and feels like.
tastings are great IMO have small displays of the brews you are sampling because people are apt to pick up a sixer of what they are tasting.... also sample bombers and 750ml bottles have them nearby for impulse sales
do grouped samplings each day. Example: Wake Up Coffee: sample 5 beers made with coffee Everything is all White: sample different Belgium wit beers Barrel Aged Day: different beers finished in barrels. And so on!
I wasn't able to attend but a local bar did a homebrew demo recently might be something to look into especially if you know someone who would love to show their hobby
A local beer shop down here does samplings on occasion, and the breweries usually send a representative to attend. Try contacting the breweries you will be using.
