Sorry for a million questions guys. I bought a kit off a guy a long time ago and am finally going to use it. I cant figure out what this thing is for though. I was thinking maybe bottle washer, but it doesn't look like any of the bottle washers I have seen and isn't remotely close to fitting on my sink.

It's a ball-lock disconnect with tubing and what looks to be a picnic tap on the end. If you keg your homebrew in ball-lock kegs, you'd connect the disconnect to the beer out post and you'd be able to dispense beer from the keg, though that looks like a pretty short beer line.

thank you! seems like an odd thing to throw into a kit. Is kegging your homebrew difficult/costly?

It's a picnic/cobra tap for a cornelius keg. And the beer coming from it would foam like crazy unless the line were replaced with a longer one, or the pressure was cranked way down.

Difficult, no. Costly? Kind of, to buy equipment initially.

It all depends on how much money you're looking to spend on it. You can make it as cheap or expensive as you want. You do need some basic equipment though, such as a cold storage option (spare refrigerator, keezer), a CO2 source, some used kegs and a few other items. If you have a spare fridge, you could spend around $100 and make it work.

Yes, that's a very short liquid out line. There would most likely be a lot of foam if you tried to serve out of that. Mine came with about 5 ft of tubing, so that the beer's pressure drops enough by the time it reaches the tap spout.

That's a flux capacitor. Don't go too fast or you never know where you'll wind up...
