A Schwarzbier...well, might have to make another stop this weekend.

I can't wait to sit at a fucking bar again...

We dropped the ABV this year to make the beer more drinkable as we felt it was a bit boozy. Also rearranged the hop profile to get more floral notes into the beer. The higher ABV that people are seeing on menus, etc for draft is just a result of where bars pull information from.

Swung by this past weekend. I didn't get a bar seat, but for good reason...the place was PACKED. Great to see this again.

The Schwarzbier is good, so get yourself to Idle Hands for a half liter!

Unfortunately the canning of this didn't work out, but there will be freshies available soon (this week I think?).

    Prost!

From the Idle Hands FB feed: "We will soon mark our Malden Taproom's fifth birthday, so we decided to make a huge Taproom upgrade to celebrate. We now have air conditioning! Yep, now we have a cool and refreshing Taproom to pair with some cool and refreshing beers. This is a very exciting upgrade for these hot and humid summer days where sitting outside may not be the best option. So come visit us and enjoy a cooler Taproom experience."

Sounds pretty good on a day like today!

Kinda surprised they took this long to announce it.

If I recall correctly the A/C was on two weeks ago when I visited.

I believe they may be having some type of "birthday bash" this summer too...

We'll keep announcing AC... we have 5 years of sweltering hot tap room experiences to overcome!

We celebrate our birthday at the same time as Oktoberfest. This year marks 10 years! We will have a small patio party to celebrate 5 years in Malden but nothing big like Oktoberfest. Stay tuned for details on those plans.

By that logic you guys should still be openly celebrating "new bathrooms!" to overcome the experiences in Everett :grimacing::wink: :sunglasses:

In a recent Idle Hands' email they mentioned that they would be running the beer garden for the home games of Boston's Ultimate Frisbee team (Boston Glory) who play their home games right at Hormel Field in Medford.

I had no idea Boston even had an ultimate frisbee team nor did I even know how the hell you play Ultimate Frisbee (beyond the fact that throwing frisbees is likely involved).

We went on a lark last night and it was a lot of fun! Kind of an interesting mix of the fun aspects of a lot of other sports and pretty easy to follow (though I'm still confused on how the penalties work). It was especially fun because the small-ish (300-400 people?) crowd seemed pretty dedicated. There were people tailgating and everything.

Gretel, Four Seam, and the white ale on offer in cans for $8 in a little area with picnic tables and a sausage vendor. You can't bring beers to the stands but you can see the game from the garden.

Not a bad way to spend a pleasant summer evening outdoors on the cheap (Tix were 15$). We plan on going back.

That sounds awesome! I have to admit that I am surprised that Medford is allowing beer sales at a venue like this. Living here for the last 20 years or so has lead me to think that that would have been impossible due to over regulation on alcohol. I’m going to have to try this out if I can fit it in.

We were there last night for the first time too. Probably passed you in the beer garden! I don't think I had been to Hormel stadium since we attended a couple of New England Storm Women's Professional Football games back in the early 2000s.

I'm an Ultimate novice, but I thought the game was a blast. The fans were fantastic. The game had more scoring and passing than I expected. And the Glory and the Phoenix kept it close right up to the end.

I think the game ended about 9:15pm and they announced that the beer garden would be open until 10:30pm so the team players could have a beer and hang out. Very cool.

Yeah I remember hearing that announcement and having the exact same thought. Though we joked that none of the players looked old enough to drink.

Certainly none of the support staff was. They must have had a job fair at the middle school.

Got a ticket to the Kevin (Ales for ALS) release on Wednesday. Looking forward to trying the beer, having a cheesesteak, and supporting a good cause.

Have to say, I hadn't had a ton from Idle Hands up until a few months ago when I picked up a few cans of Gretel and was blown away--got Heide immediately when it was released and was super impressed as well. Now I get stressed any time I don't have either of them in my fridge--they're absolutely crushing the lager game! Can't wait to try Brocktoberfest

Griselda is worth seeking out if you like Schwarzbiers. Had it both times I've visited recently and it's a show stealer for me. I think it's supposed to last until the end of August, but who knows if I keep going there...

Glad Leonard Fournette feels that much love for Polestar cars.

Known Xandre has been leaving for some time. Fitting that Emelyn (which was Brett's baby) and Luana are being released together. Xandre has done a great job of carrying the torch over there.

I need to stop in in January for my first liter out of my mug from the mug club.

$1 pretzels ain't a bad reason to go either!
